Turkeys, ducks, carp, geese, and foxes.

What happened to these tame wild animals? I have not seen any in years. Did Nugent get loose? "Kill it and Grill it"?

The ducks, geese and carp are still there. Maybe not as abundantly as in the past. But they are there. This year we did have a turkey not a wild turkey (well the liquid version may have been lurking around somewhere). The turkey whose name i still have yet to hear the straight story on (supposedly the turkey has 2 names ) lived back at Pet Farm. As for foxes i've never heard of foxes being an on point animal. Maybe the cats overran them. I do know first hand that we have racoons and possums. I'd love to know the true hollywood story on the turkey at pet farm.

I know they shot a monkey the summer of '79 that had the sense to run from jungle larrys' animal torture center! And I remember trying to call a bunch of turkeys behind the Inn in F-Town.

Yeah the turkeys and foxes were, um, relocated. Yeah, that's the ticket. They were relocated.
The only *unique* wild animal (as in, not a seagull or goose) I have ever seen at the Point was an opossum. I was walking up from the front gate toward Park Op before the park opened, and the possum was slinking along the games area by Kiddy Kingdom. Needless to say, it made me nervous, since I thought they were nocturnal and the ones who are out during the day might have rabies. It didn't do anything weird, though -- I think it was looking for food.

Let me tell you, coming across a fox out near the Campground or Sandcastle at night was always a little creepy. You would look across the way and see two beedy eyes staring back at you.
Foxes as far as I care are the vermin they eat. I have a freind that traps and he on occasion will trap a red fox by the leg. John tells me thats the only animal that will growl at him and try to bite him before he hits over the head with a ball bat! They are mean little ****s.

I am sure that those innocuous turkeys were relocated into Kinzels' stewpot or some local farmers market. I hope the geese all simply died!

Those workers that they are going to ship up from down south will like possum, day say it makes a good stew if you keep the tail as as flavor enhancer for the stew!

Parkopjen, the turkey's name was Barrette Gobbles, but we called him Barrette for short. We named him after our sup Barrette. Let me tell you that ( bleeping) bird liked no one and no one but John liked him.

Cool thanks. I think the best wild animal story from this year was the racoons in the kite eating tree slide. Every nite shortly after dark the slide would go down empty racoons. I have seen the bold possums too. One walked up the sidewalk at Swan Boats. I got rid of it quickly. I screamed at it. It was sneaking up behind a crew member. then we chased it around stockade later. He was an awfully bold possum.. which can be scary.

Some of us waited each night for the "down racoon" radio call.

I remember one night they actually showed up early and someone said "Don't they know they're early?"

No one had more wild animal run in's then the kids that had to go out to field on my crew. Im still convinced there is a bear hiding out in the cave. The call i got one night from Barile saying he was surrounded by raccoons and needed help was great, i hiked out there, with a flashlight and a big stick, its worse than fear factor i tell ya!

Racoons are not the cute furry little fuzzballs that they look like. You can shoot them with a full power air rifle and the pellets bounce off and their claws are absolutely the worst!

I remember the ducks. The gross carp. Some geese! Foxes??? I never heard anything about the foxes. And what about this monkey? Someone please explain the monkey. There were monkeys at Cedar Point??? I just know I hate Seagulls! Every freaking day I would be off to work in my nice black uniform shirt and splat they would poop on me. I think I was part of their morning routine. Oh and the cats! I loved the kittens! We used to feed them. Then Animal Control took them away. :(

While camping in Camper Village last August, my sister's schnauser ("Scruffy") got bit on the nose by a snake while walking the footpath around the penninsula. There was some blood, but the snake proved to be non poisenous.

Security and First Aid were both very interested in where this happened. It could have been a child that got bit. My sister and neice and newphew freaked out as it was!

That's too bad. Maybe Barrette Gobbles would have had more fans had he not been in such a *fowl* mood all the time...

Don't forget about Deer. Back in '99 I saw two deer on point. I got lost back by the Breakwater Cafe and I saw two Deer back there.

And I'm not talking about the John Deere display, or the Gators they use to get around the park.

Ha Ha very funny :-) But seriously that bird was a mean sucker, the first day we had that turkey he chased me out of the barn and I mean he was running after me. If anyone of us pet farm workers turn our back on that bird he would chase after us. It got to point that when we took the chicken out and let them back in, we had to use a broom just to make sure that that dumb bird would not attack us.

How about the time we had a woman threatening to go to Park Op and call Animal Control on us because we wouldn't do anything about a dying rabbit in our yard. Umm ok, 24 second interval or ride shuts down, and we're short staffed that day. Sure let me just run down there and rush this animal right to the vet.

Brent I remember that lady, she flipped out on me because there was nothing I could do, then she went crazy because I wouldnt let her go under the ride to get the rabbit herself. yikes. crazy people. We also had a raccoon grace us with his company, Fike, Chad and I chased it with trash cans until we could catch it. It was a good time, one I will remember for sure.
