Well, if anyone else was here on the day and heard the marching band going through the park, that would be my group that I was in. What a great deal. You march and play for 20 or 25 minutes(no more than a half an hour) and then you get the rest of the day in the park, and it only costs $21 per person.
Ok, on to the actual trip summary. We didn't get to the park until about 10:15, then after the marching, it was about 11:00 AM when my friends and I got in line for the Blue Streak. I had a girl with me who was petrified of roller coasters, so we wanted to start with something easy that she had ridden before. This was my first experience on the Blue Streak, and I must admit I was very impressed. This ride, although small, is an awesome ride that gave a lot of airtime in the hills. My friend had already ridden this, so it didn't bother her at all.
After this, it was on to the Corkscrew. It was pretty much a walk on, maybe a few minute wait in the station, nothing big. We had to do this twice, because my friend who was learning to ride had a bag with her, and they would not let her ride. The one thing I couldn't figure out is why the guy at the entrance didn't say anything to her about it. So, after she put her bag in a locker, we went back to the Corkscrew and surprise, she loved it!
We thought then that it was time for something a little more intimidating, so onto Mantis we went. We waited about a 1/2 hour for this, and my friend got a little nervous while waiting for this one, but she rode it anyways and surprise again, she loved it. She wanted to get right back in line for that one, but we said no. Onto much bigger and better things.
Millennium Force was next. She waited throughout the entire line with us, then chickened out as we got up to the platform! I was angry with her, because she wouldn't ride, it, but oh well. I still had a great ride, and the wait was only 40 minutes when I rode it. After Millennium Force, we sat down for a much needed rest. I got a Lemon Chill--I mean Smoothie. We had to go check in with our band director, so we did that, which was at the Public Picnic Pavillion, and on our way back in we got on Raptor, and waited maybe a half an hour. I got my first ride in the back on Raptor, seat 8-1, and now I'm obsessed with that seat. I will ride there all the time now. Its great. My friend once again loved Raptor and wanted to get right back in line.
They wanted to go rest some more, so we did that for a little while, then I convinced them that we could stand in the A/C while waiting in line for Disaster Transport. A fun ride, but I had to laugh when I heard that "I'm losing control" line! That is just hilarious. After that, they decided they wanted to ride a water ride. So, I agreed to go on White Water Landing, because I knew I wouldn't get too wet on that. We took the train to get over there, because our feet hurt and we didn't want to walk the entire way.
So after White Water Landing, I decided that since we were in the back of the park, we may as well ride that big wooden terror back there known as Mean Streak, and I have vowed not to ride that again. It is the worst thing I have ever been on and I will not do it again. After that, we decided to do the Mine Ride, because of old times sake....we had all started our coaster riding on that. Its a classic! I don't however like it how people scream like it is the scariest ride in the world. That ride has been scary for a lot of people over the years and deserves some respect, in my opinion. However, the ride ops are very funny on that one. I particularly liked the part where he said it goes 68 km per hour, instead of miles per hour. Classic.
After this, it was suppper time. I had a cheeseburger and paid $3.75 for it, way tooo much, but it was good.
For our final first ride of the day, we saved the best for last, Magnum. This is a classic ride that does a great job satisfying the guests, even my friend who was scared to death of rides loved it! I even got her to put her hands up on the drop. She went from being totally scared to becoming a coaster fanatic, and next year she will ride MF. I told her she had to. I was pretty proud of myself getting her on all those rides, and she even wanted to ride Mantis and Raptor again, so we did, and Raptor was INCREDIBLE Tuesday night. There were very little brakes applied during the midcourse brake run, and it was fast and furious through the helix at the end. the best ride I had ever had on Raptor. Manits was good also, but I thought Raptor was much better.
After this, I got some frozen custard...man that stuff is good! mmmmmm, just thinking about it. I then watched the Summer Spectacular. You know, I'm all for American Pride and Patriotism, but the God Bless the USA thing is getting old. I like know when the fireworks are coming, it doesn't even surprise me anymore. Maybe a little change next year, CP? There are lots of patriotic songs.
That pretty much wraps up my day at the Point, and I know that this is extremely long. I hope it isn't too confusing to read.
Jeff
