It was my youth group's annual CP trip and this one being my first trip of the year, I was very excited.
I got to the school campus around 6:20 and they assigned about 4 kids in each car. We left St. Clair Shores a little after 6:30. The person driving me there said she used to go to CP all the time as a kid and drove there before in less than 2 hours. I forgot what route she took but it was not the turnpike.
We got to CP a little after 9 and got a table at the public pavillion. After that we got our tickets and our wristbands for unlimited drinks. What I found weird about the wristbands was it had to be on your right wrist or else it was void. After that we went up to the gates and listened to God Bless America and we were then let in the park.
I decided it would be best to go straight to Magnum and I was right as it was a walk-on. After that we went over to Gemini which had no line and then I went to ride Skyhawk alone(my group was afraid of that one).
After that we got another ride on Magnum and a ride on both BS and Raptor. After Raptor I decided to split from my group and go check out TTD. This was at 2 and TTD was about a two hour wait. I decided to not wait for it and went over to ride Skyhawk for 3 more times before I went back over to Dragster. When I got back they said TTD was down for "mechanical problems" and said it should be back up. I decided to wait outside of it and see if I could get lucky. After a half hour there where a bunch of people coming out of the line and one of them happened to be someone I know and they told me it would take them about an hour and a half to fix the problem.
So I decided to go across and ride Magnum which was a 10 minute wait. After that I went over to, guess what, Skyhawk and got two more rides. Once that was done I decided to walk back over to TTD and check to see if there was any news on it, there was nothing. So I decided to ride Magnum once more which was a walk-on and ran into my group so we decided to ride together. After Magnum I was trying to convince my group to ride SH and one stepped up but the other didn't want to ride it. I go to SH with the kid and I could tell he was nervous at first but on the second swing he told me it was awesome.
So after that I decided to go back to TTD and they told me TTD would be down for the rest of the day. My heart sank and I was bummed for the rest of the day. What might be my only trip of the year and I couldn't ride my favorite coaster. However, I realized there was plenty of more to do so I took my one group member on MF and he loved it. Then we decided to hit up Maverick and get a couple more rides on SH before the park closed.
At the end of the day I would still consider it a good trip and hopefully I can go back this year. If not than that's not that bad because I am strongly considering working there next summer.
Ride Count:
Skyhawk- 9; Magnum- 4; BS-1; Raptor-1; Gemini-2; Maverick-1; MF-1
