TTD voted 11th best coaster

As CP won it's 6th golden ticket award TTD was voted as the 11th best coaster in the world. I was wondering if it was voted #11 because of the downtime it had during the early season.
It might have been, but I think the big factor is the ride itself. Compared to 'full' rides like MF and Superman: Ride of Steel, and things to that extent, dragster offers a big thrill, but it is not prolonged very long, which I think would drag down the ratings.
TTD is still my favorite coaster regardless of its length
With all the unfortunate troubles TTD has had, I think that 11th is quite amazing. If I recall in 2000 Magnum was still #1 over MF. I'm sure TTD will make a large jump next year.

FYI- Intamin is building another rocket coaster in Hershey for next year. The thing that gets me, it is only $10 million, smaller and not as fast as TTD, but $15 million less?

I get it. It's smaller and slower than TTD but is less money. Does that make since to anyone?

TTD: 1; WT: 9; MF: 4; Mantis: 3; Raptor: 6; Mean Streak: 5; Magnum: 5

I'm sure the downtime was a major factor in it being only 11 place. I'm 99% sure that Dragster will easily be a top 5 coaster.. and quite possibly #1 next year.

Lets be honest here.. this ride is easily the most amazing roller coaster ever built.

Of course its the most amazing thing in the world, of course it belongs at number 1, of course it will always be YOUR favorite coaster in the world...its because your all Cedar Point fans...you all have biased opinions, and unfortunately, people that ride the coasters and rate them are not. I was impressed with TTD, but the length and lack of originality (up, turn, down, twist done? C'mon) just doesnt compare to monsters like Millenium Force, and just good old fashion coasters like Kennywood's Phantoms Revenge, and more technologically advanced like X.

Honestly, i enjoy those more, just because of length, and most honestly just an out of control experience...Yes it is the tallest and fastest, but its length is short, you barely get to enjoy the speed and height..and possibly judges think the same.

Oh and i wanted to edit in, that although the coaster did have downtime, judges dont rate on availability of the ride...they judge the ride ITSELF, why should a ride get a lower rating just because its had a hard season, if its still amazing? I dont think it works that way.

how do you get a more out of control expirience than ttd? i agree with the length a little bit, but saying phantoms revenge is a more out of control ride than top thrill dragster!? that's just insane!

I'm gonna agree with Sam on this one. Its fun and fast but there's no way I'd ever rank TTD anywhere near the #1 coaster slot.
In regards to the list itself I believe that it was poorly made I just don't like it at all, Im surprised at the fact that S:ROS up here at SF:Darien Lake beat out TTD in the spot for #9 and our park really well stinks. I was shocked that Dragster didnt make the top 10 at least, but like some say or I've heard is because its downtime and not enough people have ridden it.

Thats just my opinion...

Does it really matter whom thinks TTD is #1 or not. I don't think so. It's a sure thrill no matter what people tell me.

I do however think TTD should have been marketed as the tallest and fastest THRILL RIDE in the WORLD. Flamed i may get for that comment, but we all know it's really a coaster.. why front it? I'd guess since SSMF and CP aren't competition;)

Keep in mind several factors, the voting time window isn't that long.

Coastermania is a time when many enthusiasts from farther out travel to the park and when the ride was down it lost votes.

Another HUGE reason it lost votes was due to the ACE Europe trip from last summer. Notice all of the European rides in the list. I am sure G Force is an amazing ride but if all of those ACEers didn't make that trip then I think that list would look a lot different.

I'm amazed that it made it to #11 in it's first year. It usually takes awhile for a new coaster to climb up in the ratings, no matter how good it is. People need time to ride it. With TTD being in it's first year, plus all the downtime, coming in at 11 is a superb showing IMHO.

Uhhhhhh, every voter has a bias--they're biased towards their favorite. What is this, a 'fair and balanced' popularity contest? Somebody call Al Franken...or Fox News...

I was under the impression the voters (not judges) voted based upon whether they rode a ride as well. If they have not been on the ride, they can't judge it, so another coaster will be voted for in its place. Although It wouldn't get number one from me (MF still does), I suspect TTD will rate much higher next year.

I agree with Dan...after the european coaster tour, I see a lot more european coasters showing on this years awards list.

I thought it was great to see more european coaster on this years list, while I am sure last years ACE trip played a role in that.

Did you know TTD is 990 feet shorter than Raptor, another top 10 coaster. I am disapointed it only lasts 16 seconds, but it is a great 16 seconds. One of these days Disney will realize not all tall structures need to be covered, and will build a world class coaster, saving them tens of millions of dollars, compared to Avalanche or Mission Space. (or at least one can hope).

Tom - who is also surprised the new Hershey coaster is $15 million less than TTD. Seems like the 120 feet between MF and Dragster came at a pretty high price.

That's @#$! I would have put it in #1. It could also be that since it's a new ride not that many people have riden TTD yet.

Honestly, what else would you have done with Dragster? Add some repetitive overbanks that take away from the insanely intense experience as well as add immensely to the price tag? The whole concept for Dragster is an out of control feeling of speed and height...why add elements that would take away from this objective?

Not technologically advanced? I would have to say that Dragster is one of, if not the most technologically advanced roller coaster to date!

By using that logic, Millennium Force should drop the first hill and hit the brake run.

I don't understand why people don't see how TTD could go 11th. LOTS OF PEOPLE DON'T THINK ITS THAT GREAT OF A COASTER. Yes, its fast and high and the new technology used to launch is amazing. The bottom line is most people don't care. As far as they're concerned, TTD runs off magic. I just think people expect more out of a coaster than a launch and a drop. Lots of people get off this ride expecting more. My brother and I had fun but soon as we left the platform we said "It was okay." Hardly the response after riding Raptor, Millennium Force, Magnum, or even Mean Streak for the first time. The first ride on those would make the day!
