No way I want to see it go. Just wish they could figure a way out to keep it up and running more often than not. Cedar Point does a great job doing their best.
Maybe they need to leave a mechanic there at all times why the ride is operating!
Just frustrated haven't been able to ride it yet this year!
Yeah i get it, it is one of those rides that really sucks when it goes down. and believe me, I know, I've been there multiple times when it happens. I am pretty sure that they have full time {well trained) staff there during most operating time and it is beyond the control they have on the ride (?mechanical/electronic?}.
When we stayed on point July 13-21 it was up and running everyday with little noticeable downtime. They also did a cable replacement on the 16th overnight, regular maintenance as the workers explained it.

I won't wait in any more than a 15 minute line for it because it goes down so often when we wait for it but I have no desire to see it go anywhere. My kids ride it more often than me it just physically takes a bit out of me. The space it takes up is such a skinny area what else could they possible put there that would be an improvement?
I think a good out and back wood coaster would fit there nicely. But I think they would make improvements to TTD before removing it. Maybe that discussion they had a while ago was about making improvements to TTD so it would be more reliable and less maintenance intensive.

Hindsight is 20/20. If the park had to do it all over again, TTD would not exist. It's not even a priority for me to ride during my visits. I really miss the way that area used to look before TTD was built.
^I'm so glad we have someone on this forum who knows exactly what the CF Leadership team is thinking. Now we won't have to speculate any more at all! Care to share the RMC Mean Streak details?

Hindsight being 20/20?.... I'm sure the management team doesn't bother to take into account the massive amount of free advertising that TTD gets them on Travel And Extreme ride TV shows that play every year then.
The word of mouth alone that ride provides probably pays for the maintenance on it.
Even most of CPs own video adverts usually focus on TTD when it zooms from a wide shot of the park to zoom in on.

Maybe the meeting with Intamin was about replacing the catapult with LSM. I don't think it's going anywhere for a long time though.

I totally agree that it should go. The location is perfect for a station for the monorail that connects to the mainland, centrally located, making it a short walk to Maverick and New Mean Streak!

You mean like wishing on a magical star that its thousands of moving parts never break down? After 14 years of operation, Cedar Point maintenance knows the rides "ins and outs" well enough to keep it running as often as they can. There is no reality where every coaster runs perfectly, all of the time. Dragster just happens to be the most stubborn of them. If maintenance upkeep on the ride is really hurting the park, they'll make some kind of move. But to suggest they should tear it down just because it has been a minor inconvenience to you is a bit overboard. I flew to California on a big trip with X2 being the most highly anticipated part of the trip. As luck would have it, the chain broke a week before I left and it reopened a few days after I got home. It sucks but it happens.
And I'll echo what a couple people have said about marketing. Dragster is one of the most marketable rides they have and a marquee ride for the park. Removing it, I assume, would be the ultimate last resort.

And here I got all excited because I thought we were all in agreement that it was time for Adam to go.
Promoter of fog.
That's what Dragster and I have in common. We both upset people who find out we're still around.

X and Lightning Rod had far worse issues than Dragster at opening. X's issues somewhat remained until it became X2 if I have my facts right. At least Dragster opened reasonably on time in 2003 and rarely has super-long downtime periods (this year being one of those rare times.)
^^If Cedar Point saw my "ridership numbers", they'd scrap me faster than an Intamin boat flume.

As far as Intamin doing any work of any kind on TTD, they burned their bridges with the Shoot the Rapids disaster. I don't believe you will be seeing anything of theirs on the property for a long time, if ever...

Does anyone know if Kingda Ka have this problem?
Ka is worse.
In addition to similar mechanical issues as TTD:
1.It always opens late.
2.The loading station was designed to run alternating sides, like Storm Runner.
GA runs 1 side with 3 trains.
That kills capacity.
3.They have to time their launches to coincide with their drop tower,Zumanjario, that's bolted to the back of Ka.
That kills capacity even more.
4.Ga now has a policy that you can't ride Ka with anything in a pocket, even if its buttoned or velcro'd .
