I can't decide which one I hate more, the Rick Roll video or Chocolate Rain. Them being mixed together is like giving yourself brain damage.

Jeff put a search function back on the forum for a reason. The topic has been discussed a lot in the past and they could easily answer the question. Many of us have been on rollbacks.

You can have roll backs on Maverick?

I'm sorry... I'm all for search, I really am, but if it is a topic was discussed more than a year ago I think its fair game for someone (who may be new) to post about it. It may seem redundant to the people who have been here for years, but some people were not here when those things were discussed. You DON'T have to post in it, no one is making you.... just let it be. I personally don't like it when really old threads are revived, all sense of discussion is lost and no one ever really pays attention to the new comment.

Discussion is good, killing threads sends a negative message and you are likely to lose a member. If its a noticeable duplicate thread of one discussed not to long ago then I would say its safe to politley point it out then lock the thread. Some people seem to skip the "politely" part. Sorry Gomez, im not directly ranting on you... I just needed to say it.

And some people go through posts and look for things to get offended about for no reason.

And I don't go through the news looking for things to call Raper. I was poking fun at people who give rides nicknames, and considering I'll be working at SkyScraper, I gave it the nickname "Raper" for shock and awe value, and apparently several people got a laugh out of it. Was I saying that rape is a cool thing? Did I say it's cool to be raped? Chill the eff out already it's a flipping message board.

Onto the topic of reposting, I agree with the above poster. If it's something that hasn't been talked about since the Kennedy administration, let it go. Once again, it's a flipping message board so don't take it like it's life or death if someone doesn't post the way you want them to.

I'd just like to point out that we have 2 discussions going on right now, one in main and one in news, that are for all intents and purposes identical. One is called "2008 season preview" and the other "Cedar Point 2008 season preview." They often come up right next to each other if you're browsing using the "recent" feature. They were started about 24 hours apart from one another. Just saying.

RaceRinger I thought it was funny. lol. And where would you have a roll back at on Maverick? On the lift hill? Sorry, I havn't got a chance to ride it yet.

Here's a question; is there any way to predict a rollback before launch? Are there any circumstances that exist where you can look at the weights of the people on the train, or how many/which seats are full or something along those lines and guess it's more or less likely?

Me and my friend almost got one on opening day 2007!! They had TTD open for joe cool in place of maverick cuz of the delay, Every other train was having a rollback, and we were in the station. But when we were called to ride, it launched over the top! :( Maybe next time!!

I am going in mid May. Is it true that there is a better chance for a rollback then? It seems most rollbacks peopole discuss happen early in the season. I am going to the Point by myself for a day,May 15,16 then off to KI to ride Then back home to Philly. One of my main objectives is to get a rollback.

Yep that was exactly when I got mine. It's too bad you didn't get yours. Literally every train rolled back on its first cycle with passengers on it.

And to answer a previous poster's question about predicting a rollback. Usually if it's cold out or fairly windy, you could maybe hope for a rollback. That's usually the conditions you need for one. The first launch of the morning often rolls back, as well. Other than that, they've gotten pretty good at getting every train over the hill with regularity.

Thanks a lot, I'll get one eventually...

It's pretty hard to get one on Maverick. One of the key locations is going into either of the two inversions, and it really matters on how windy it is and the direction of the wind. That's probably one of the bigger ways to get a rollback.

With the hill being launched, it could for forwhatever reason, roll back, if they were to stop the train, but I don't ever hear or see of this happening.

A "rollback" on Maverick involving one of the inversions (i.e. not on the lift or hill after the launch) would be very bad.

The rollback being discussed, involves the lift cutting off before the train reaches the top, or the launch "mis-firing" and not getting the train over the hill , and rolling back to the launch. While not very common, either will happen if the E-stop button is hit while a train is still controlled by the magnets..
