In a nutshell, better than I'd expected, but not without problems.
So after our stop at SFWoA, we drove on to Cedar Point. Our party was split between 2 rooms at the Best Western Sandusky. We agreed to meet for breakfast at 7am. At 7:15, my sister and I decided to call the other member of our party and see what was taking so long, only to discover that our call was what WOKE him. Sigh...
Fortunately, we were still about to get to the park by 8:30. It was chilly, but the sun was attempting to come out, so the wait for the season pass office to open wasn't unpleasant. The center opened promptly at 9, and we were through by 9:15.
Which, of course, just meant another wait, this time just inside the main gates. There was a ceremony where Cedar Point was given a historical monument of some sort, which would have been cool if I could have HEARD anything over the general public.
Then the ribbon was cut. Off to Millennium Force for us, where while trying to find the end of the line we spot 2Hostyl, already in line. He hopped out to join us.
First ride of the Cedar Point season, Millennium Force. 2 train operation initially (I snapped a picture of the blue train still under the tarp, in fact ;) ) What a ride.
After that first lap on MF, we decided to go back around, as the line still hadn't built up. This time around, we snagged the front seat! Jeremy and my sister hadn't ridden the front before, so they had the front, I was in the second row with the sleeper. What a ride.
Then it was off to the rest of the park.
Tally (in order)
MF (2 laps) -- see above. As an added comment, for my second ride the op INSISTED on stapling me, with both the bar AND the seat belt. That is TOTALLY unnecessary, and if I wasn't taking preventative measures I could've been in some serious pain on that cycle...
Cedar Creek Mine Ride (1 lap) -- one of the operators was the lovely Natalie ("Ride of Steel"). The chant of "Mine Ride #1" coming back into the station was the hilight of this one :)
Mean Streak (1 lap) -- Unlike its older cousin at SFWoA, this one still screeches up a storm. The trim on the first drop was on fairly heavily. Short line, though.
Gemini (2 laps, 1 red 1 blue) -- I love this ride. some good handslapping going on between the trains, when they were running close.
Magnum XL200 (1 lap) -- Ejector seat! I didn't get slammed into my lapbar as in past years, but still got sufficient airtime. Nice. The trim before the pretzel seemed to be gone (I didn't see it, and it DEFINITELY didn't kick in even if it's there)
Corkscrew (1 lap) -- Short Arrow looper, with no safetly concerns unlike at a certain nearby park that shall remain nameless... ;)
Power Tower (1 cycle, UP) -- Why the Shot side consistently has a shorter line I won't understand, but I won't complain.
Iron Dragon -- DENIED. Down, no idea why. Oh well.
Wildcat (1 lap) -- Probably the shortest line I'll see this year, so...
Mantis (1 lap) -- Probably the longest line of the day, after the 2nd time through MF. The trim on the drop was out in full force.
Raptor (attempt #1) -- DENIED. Closed for "mechanical reasons" when we got up there. We decided to head over to.....
Disaster Transport (1 lap) -- They're pretty much given up on the theming, but that's not exactly news. Still the best enclosed coaster in Northern Ohio
Raptor (attempt #2) -- We get to the station, and are NEXT in line, when it goes down again. Sigh. Ah well, we'll be back.
Blue Streak (1 lap) -- Man do I miss the old trains. No headrests, single bars, etc. Ah well, still not a BAD woodie.
By now it was already later than we'd intended to stay. We have jobs and had to drive back to Pgh, and Cedar Point will be there another day...
