Trip report 7/29-31

Hey guys, here's what I have to say about my trip to Cedar Point this year. I'll try to be as brief as possible

I did not enter the park on the 29th, but I was at the beach. It was a lot of fun. The lifeguards are not as big as (if you'll pardon the expresion) dicks as everyone said they are. Yes you are slightly restricted as to how far you're allowed to go out. You can still catch some mighty fine waves where you're at though

Our hotel room was great. We stayed at the Hotel Breakers, and for some strange reason, we got a Breakers East room on the 8th floor (not a suite though). We got a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a great view of the park! Finally, we're not in the "poor" section anymore.

We did take advantage of early entry on Monday and took several pictures of Disaster Transport that morning as we did Space Spiral. When we came back later that evening, DT was all boarded up! It has come to my attention that starting today it will be torn down.

Another cool and funny thing about early entry is getting to see the "pesants" waiting until Cedar Point officially opened. I should've taken pictures of that.

The Celebration Plaza looked completely different, and it's great to see the Train Station without that giant screen anymore. The stage itself looks good. the only disadvantage is not being able to see how long the lines are for Iron Dragon at that angle anymore. Didn't have to; walked on everytime as I did with a lot of rides including Windseeker.

I'm afraid that I have to say thumbs down for Dinosaurs. Sorry, I didn't think it was all that great. The Ice Show is pretty much the same opinion this year. The skating was great and it was funny seeing people getting a little ice spray down in front, but the music was not that memorable nor not all that good. "Justin Beagle"? C'mon! My Luminosity review will be last.

The Lights at night look great, the new lighting for Giant Wheel looks fantastic; I'll miss the old lighting, but this is so much better and along side Windseeker at night, you can't go wrong. The Blue Streak looked as good as new with the fresh new coat of paint, and I'll have to say the same for Millenium Force UNTIL you see one section that is not repainted AT ALL. It looked very purple, yuk!

They had all the characters out all the time. Woodstock was found at Planet Snoopy while the rest were out the front entrance in the morning, Camp Snoopy in the afternoon, and the Party in the Plaza in the evening. I went to that show twice; I loved it! Again, memorable songs. One of them was the theme song to the Saturday Morning Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show!! Charlie Brown and Sally were the friendliest, while Schroeder was a dud. Sorry! Black people responded really well to Franklin this year (both he and Woodstock were new at the park), and as mentioned in an earlier post, the Subway mascot was out on Tuesday evening.

Now for Luminosity: The preshow with the warm up people was good. They had twillers followed by a fun dance contest for kids, tweens, and teens; now that is a GREAT oppurtunity for them to be on the stage. They do have a set time, 9:15pm, which is something the Cedar Point webdsite does NOT give.

The show itself, mixed feelings, although most of them are good feelings. The lights, the dancing, the atmoshpere, and the singing were excellent, the performers looked like they have a great time. Look around you, there are dancers on the smaller stages too. The music (just like the ice show) is not that good. Some of them are good like Livin on a Prayer, but they butchered Somewhere Beyond the Sea. The strange alien creatures make no sense which he later sings "I'm sexy and I know it." Katey Perry's Fireworks was appropriate for the fireworks at the end and unlike some reviews I read, the performers DID get the oppurtunity to take a bow and be recognized. Some of them came down and danced with the audience at the dance party afterwards which is cool, but the dance party does mean more security (and the gaurds did not look happy to be there; I don't blame them), and I don't agree with them selling beer and whine at the Plaza. I'm worried something might go wrong.

Makes me wonder because of the dance party if people in the Sandusky area (mainly teens and young people) will buy season passes just to go at night for the dance party and use Cedar Point as a new teen hang out place. In our area, we have Jamboree in the Hills; they bring in big name country stars and it's a once a year event. However, same thing; it's now a party place, and there's booze to go around (and more people detained too). Can anyone else agree with me there?

So there you have it, an overall excellent trip! Any thoughts, questions, comments?

I live in Sandusky and the teens are not going to hang out at Luminosity every day. It's mostly the same show every night.

^ Even the dance party is the same, cause I'm not saying they hang out to see the show, I'm saying they could hang out just for the dance party.
