Trip - June 7th, 2003

I made my first trip to the park, this past Saturday. Expecting rain, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.

A little disappointed that Dragster was not operational, however we did get to see it launch from the parking lot. =)

None of the ride lines were too bad, however a few line jumpers cut in front of us at White Water Landing. They were kids, and what I am going to do as an adult, yell and scream and ruin, my day? Not.

We ate at the BBQ place right inside Frontierland, food was fine, except no one told us about the "Cottonwood Frizzies" floating around until we sat down at a picnic table. It was a virtual blizzard, seemed fun and harmless at first, and then seemingly annoying when one has to defend their pork BBQ sandwich from the evil cottonwood frizzy.

Employees seemed to be all in a nice disposition. Even had a nice conversation with a Park Ops Sweeperette, Kelly (I think that was her name). I met her under the Raptor while my friends were on the Blue Streak. She asked how my day was, I said exhausting, and read her name tag, turned out we were both from Pittsburgh, PA. So we chatted for about 15 minutes, I hope I am not getting her in trouble, she was very pleasant, and friendly. And to date, in travelling up to CP for 15 years, I have not encountered such a pleasant employee, who was willing to come up to 'joe guest' and ask how things were going. =)

My gripes are, it seemed for a long time we past "dipping dots" carts every 5 feet, but when you are at Wicked Twister, there are none to be found. We did find one over by Raptor eventually.

Also, I only noticed Dragster was not operational, AFTER I paid the cashier, and noticed this 8x10 sign saying it was closed. It was in a wierd spot, and didn't think it was actually really closed until I asked. It would not have stopped my admission to the park, I thought it was a little "shady" to be in this wierd corner and not plainly posted.

And, just thought of one more - why does it cost so much to eat/drink at the park - I mean a cheeseburger and a pop at the 50's Diner in front of the Iron Dragon/Dodgem cost $9. The BBQ plate in Frontierland, $11.85 (sandwich and drink) - I feel a little violated, emptied my pocket at the gate, and to eat, well that was another small fortune. I remember the days when you could get by on half that amount not very long ago. Why not raise admission prices $20 a head, and make it 'all inclusive' - food included?

On the flipside, I was "admired" by an employee over at Mean Streak (this is a good thing, not a bad thing) - as I have posted in another topic area today. Hoping he contacts me - =).

So annoyances aside, it was a great day at CP!
