Hmm.. that's a tough one. Quite honestly, I think your best bet would be to either just rent a car, or try to find someone in the area that's making a trip and see if you can throw in some cash to tag along. Cedar Point is in the middle of nowhere when it comes to mass transit.

Thanks,
I looked into Amtrack but the only connection is via Chicago and too expensive.
I'm not sure whether I could drive on the right-side of the road (let alone on American highways). :p
There are Greyhound busses to Sandusky, but then there's still the problem of getting around once I'm there... Maybe I will have to take the plunge and rent a car.
As you'll find out if you don't know already, mass transit in this country ranks anywhere from terrible to non-existent depending on where you are. I imagine finding people to share a ride with at the university wouldn't be too difficult.
The Greyhound thing is also an option, although when I did a search for Cincinnati to Sandusky on their website for an arbitrary day in mid-August it shows a roughly 9 hour trip one way. The trip could be done by car in 4-5 hours. If you did take Greyhound though, you'd be able to get a taxi to the park.
There's still a station listed on the website.

And I called and they are still operating.
So you can still catch a bus up to Sandusky.
