People,
Is anyone else sick of Intamin rides at Cedar Point? The last 3 have been, in my opinion, the weakest of Kinzel's tenure. Millennnium Force, except for its first drop, is so drawn out and smooth you could balance a book on your head or take a nap. Wicked Twister is a one-trick-pony. Top Thrill Dragster, when it is working, is also a one-trick-pony. Of the three Millennium Force is probably the best.
Intamin's rides seem to all be this way, at least at CP. They don't provide any of the thrills of traditional types of coasters. Compare Magnum to MF. Magnum is still tall, fast and long. It also is fun from start to finish. It provides all sorts of air and even one or two unique elements. Best of all, everyone can ride it and it rarely breaks down. It also gives you room to move and get thrown around a little. Maybe I am a bit old school, but coasters are supposed to give thrills not only with height and speed but also with elements of danger, including getting tossed around a bit. Heck, there really is no such thing as air on an Intamin. The belts and restraints are so tight a fly couldn't leave its seat on a camelback.
Hopefully this new ride will bring back some of these more traditional elements. And please, NO LAUNCHES! Make it a real roller coaster, drag me slowly to the top of a hill and let it loose.
I am curious to hear all of your thoughts because everyone seems to love the Intamins here.
Here's to a lift hill,
Dave
Yeah. Was this really necessary? You could have expressed this opinion in any other of the 1,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,003 threads we already have discussing the next rollercoaster at Cedar Point.
Either way this is here so I guess I'll chime in. No such thing as air on an Intamin, you say? I know of a couple Men of Steel who would disagree with you.
Geez, exit - you gotta keep up, man.
There's 1,00,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,004 threads.

e x i tenglish quit yelling at other people for making threads! If they want to make a thread they can!
I'm sure a lot of people here will rip you a new one, but I tend to agree with you.
I think all three of the recent additions are rather "uninspired." That might be as much CP's fault as it is Intamins though. They're trying to create rides unlike others that are already in the park. Sure MF and TTD broke height barriers, but beyond the drop on MF and the launch on TTD, they really are both quite lame
Of the three recent Intamins, I think Wicked Twister is quite frankly the most fun and the one I continue to really enjoy riding. I'm not really sure why, but it is just fun.
The GP does love Millennium Force and I think that excluding the seatbelt problems, that installation has to go down as a successful one in the minds of Cedar Point execs and the GP.
Intamin can deliver some awesome rides. Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England is considered by many to be the best coaster on the planet and for good reason. If you took the good qualities of Magnum and Millennium Force and morphed them together, you'd get that ride.
I'm hoping the new ride is more "inspired" than the last three though. It's clear that it's not going to break any height records, so that gives me some hope that they're going to be a little more creative and build something unique and something that isn't a one trick pony this time.

Millenium Rules, fix your username spelling and get off my case. If I want to yell at someone for starting a stupid thread, I can!
If you would like to start using proper punctuation and grammar at any time, you can!!
Besides, I'm not yellin' - IF I WAS IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS!
Where's the picture of the gun and how you roll. That would keep him from running his mouth to you. ;)
granted, MF doesn't have <that much> air, but the air it does have is awesome. and, i LOVE how smooth it is. i love magnum too, but its getting really rough and jerky. its all about variety man. different people like different things. if all the coasters provided the same experience, why would people show up at the park??
do i wish we had a flyer or a floorless, sure. do i wish we had more B&Ms, sure! but, we don't know what 2007 holds yet as far as coaster design and what experience the thing will provide. i'll be happy regardless of what it is.
as a side note, i LOVE intamin's restraints. best restraint on a ride. very comfy, very open.
Roller coasters are roller coasters, and I love 'em all!!! Can't we all just get along and love coasters together?! haha

I absolutely responded to what you said.
The very words "This is what I have to say to that" are right there. :)

No.
I actually like all 3 for different reasons. I don't care whether its a "1-trick-pony" or not.
Its amazing how spoiled people have become over the years with CP. Back in the day when Gemini was the king, we always managed to enjoy the day and ride. Now all you hear is: too small, too short, too slow, too smooth, too rough, not this, not that, blah, blah, blah. If it's that bad go to a different park that has more of rides you enjoy. *** Edited 7/27/2006 9:56:53 PM UTC by Headrush***
