Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point

My son said yesterday they put up a bunch of 25-30 ft supports in that section of straight footers. He said they are all the same height and in a straigth line. Sorry no pics.

Launch. Which is what we suspected all along.

Intamin, to date, doesn't make floorless coasters.

Well, there's a first time for everything- now isn't there? Maybe they're surprising us by making a floorless coaster.

I think we should expect the unexpected on this one anyhow.

I won't happen. I could give an explination, but it's late.

Okay. Tell me the truth: Do the both of you work at either Intamin AG or Cedar Point? Because you both are certainly sure of a lot of stuff. I just gotta know! I want to see the writing from Intamin AG- saying that they will never make something. Please show me. Thank you! ;-)

Really? Cuz I was taught in 7th grade science that its (m/s)/s. That being meters per second, per second, no?

Correct me if I'm wrong, if I am I'd like proof to tell the teacher he was wrong :)

In spoken form, its either meters per second per second, or meters per second squared.

Mathematically speaking, its m/(s*s) or m/(s^2) or (m/s)/s.

Brandon

What the hell??? LOL

meters per second per second is shown as m/s^2

what you have is meters per second divided by per second.

Launch. Which is what we suspected all along.

A row of straight footers does not solidify the fact that this coaster has a launch. A row of footers that are all the same size could simply be the loading area inside the station.

No but the pieces of track with the LIM mounting bracket, that are identical to the pieces of track on wicked twister with the LIM mounting bracket does solidify the fact that this coaster has a launch.

I think that the launch will be somewhere in the middle of the coaster, possibly making this a very LONG coaster. Maybe even the longest in the world. Just a thought.

No the launch will be at the start. It would be neat to have the longest coaster in the world at CP, but I would assume that we would need at least double the amount of track that we see now.

EDIT: I really need to re-read twice. *** Edited 8/3/2006 4:12:19 PM UTC by CP4eva'04***

*sigh*
(m/s)/s = (m/s) x (1/s) = m/(s^2)

I once obtained my ME degree a few years ago. Sorry, no points this round.

Brandon

Brain fart...sorry.

CP4eva - you're assuming all the track has been delivered. I'd go the other way and say we haven't seen it all yet.

'/s' is "per second" so, m/s/s is meters per second per second.

m/s//s would be meters per second divided by per second.

Acceleration is denoted as m/s/s all the time. It is a standard notation.

I haven't actually posted in quite some time, easily at least a year or maybe even two. However, I feel this topic is worthy of my attention. I personally always thought it was written out as m*(s^ -2). It's definitely either written that way or m*(s^ -1)*(s^ -1)...

OK, this thread is about track being at the site and we don't have any pitures of it yet? What's wrong with all you coaster dorks that have access to the point on a daily basis? Can't you all see what you're doing to the rest of us?

On a more serious note, have there been any pics of the track at the site posted yet and I missed them due to all this math mumbo jumbo? ;)

Ride on, MrScott!

Mox, it is definately not written that way ever. That is totally wrong. It is read meters per second per second or meters per second squared. Both of those forms are correct. (m/s/s or m/s^2)

Actually, mox's form is correct. Its not a common notation, but it isn't wrong either.

Mox:

m*(s^ -1)*(s^ -1) is equivalent to m*(1/s)*(1/s)

A number raised to a negative exponent (in this case, negative one (-1)) is equivalent to one divided by that number. Observe:

0.5 = 1/2 = 2^-1

Brandon

Hey guys if you go over to point pixel .com.there is a picture of the track at the site. There is three pieces there.
