I was there from Sat, July 2 to Mon July 4, 2011.
Saturday didn't seem too busy. Got there at 1pm and parking lot was only about half to 3/4 full. Not sure about lines in CP as we were in Soak City all day from 1pm to 8pm....which wasn't anywhere near as crowded as I thought it would be. Worst lineup was 45 mins but most slides seemed about 15-30 mins.
Sunday was a whole lot busier. Got in to the park about 3pm and they were parking ppl on the grass at the front and were using the overflow lot in the front for anyone going to Soak City. Park was shoulder to shoulder crowded and we had to weave in and out of the crowds. Lines didn't seem too bad from our perspective though. Still, we were only doing minor rides. 20 mins for Wildcat at 3ish, walk on for Thunder Canyon at 4, and walk on for Cedar Creek Mine Ride at 5ish. We were in Soak City from 6pm to 8pm. we had no probs with lines but didn't even try the slides until 7:30pm when everything was a walk on.
We went back into CP from 8 - 11:30 and continued dealing with crowds but had no probs with the rides we wanted to go on. We scored at 10:20 when we got in line for Disaster Transport right after the fireworks just when it re-opened (which I hadn't realized was happening) and FINALLY did the ride! (we've been trying to do this for several trips now but the line is always too long or it's broken down).
Monday we expected to be super busy...but crowd levels never approached Sunday's levels. The midway was like a typical summer weekend. Raptr was busy enough that at 12pm it was an hour lineup and at 1pm it was 1.5 hrs. We managed to work against the crowds and never waited in any major lines for anything....and we did pretty much every single major ride in the park (skipped Gemini and Mean Streak) with a fair bit of downtime because we had 3 families with us.
We made it to TTD right at 10am and the cars were all loaded and ready to go. It was about a 10 min wait when we got there - people were just racing in after rope drop. We did it again about 5/6pm and had an even shorter lineup....apparently the ride had re-opened only about 10 mins before we got there.
I think our longest wait was Maverick. We did that about 11ish and it was about 45 mins. Even MF was only a 10 min wait...and that must have been about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. The vast majority of the rides, we only waited 10-20 mins each.
I was completely shocked how short the waits were for us. Plus we didn't have to deal with a single ride being closed.
It was a great weekend! I was a bit worried about going for 3 days (especially since we've been 2x this season already) but my kids were still saying there was more stuff they wanted to do. We still haven't seen the stunt show and my son still wants more rides on Disaster Transport and the Mine Ride. Plus we still haven't even made it on all the slides in Soak City. Of course. we've spent forever at the Wave pool, rode Zoom Flume 5 times in a row, and done most of the major coasters at least once...and that's just this trip alone!
Best of all...my hubbie...who is NOT a coaster guy (he likes the antique cars)...he rode Dragster and really liked it! He's talking about trying out some of the other big coasters in the park....I'm in absolute shock! He gets motion sick though so we'll likely need to pump him with Gravol.
We're definitely looking forward to our next CP trip...and we think we will go in a couple of weeks. Soak City was a major win for our family. Everyone loved it.
