Top Thrill's Operational Status 04'

Well, now that the 04' season is underway I think this would make a good thread to keep all the little details and bits of info on how TTD is running. How many trains, launch intervals, down time.. etc.. etc..

So, last I heard from one of the other threads, correct me if I am wrong.. 4 trains is what they have been running with. Quite a lot of rollbacks. Somewhat long launch intervals at times. Down for short periods. Anything I miss or get wrong?

Bro J

don't think so good listening

That was opening day. Sunday was better. Very few rollbacks, and when it worked well it was fairly quick with the launches. They kept having what appeared to us in line to be a bocking issue with the breaks/unload for a while, so after every second train they'd have to manually reset the blocks (not sure if this is technically correct, but it's how it looked). They appeared to get that fixed later in the day though.

Well, from watching the webcams, there seemed to be a 1:01, 1:02 interval between trains cresting the tophat.

What IS the air-speed velocity of an African swallow?

For this time of year I can certainly live with times around a min. Are they still only letting a few people into the actual line at a time or have they completely opened it up? Have they gotten it up to 5 trains yet.

Just read on another forum that TTD was having a lot of problems staying up on Sunday. Can anyone confirm?

Bro J

Yep, Sunday was quite a challenging day to want to ride Dragster. It seemed okay for a while in the morning, then it had problems most of the afternoon. By early evening, it seemed to be running more smoothly. But then again, Millie was down for an hour, it seemed like Mantis was up and down, and Raptor and Maggie seemed to be the most reliable in the park.

The directions for Dragster on Sunday should have been: The ride would go down. The line would close. People would leave in mass exoduses. Then the line would open up for a bit. Repeat.

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

Don't mean to go off topic but didn't someone say after B&M's turn 10 years old they start to go down hill. Well... lets read the last part of first paragraph of raptorgrl's
post. It's says something interesting about Raptor, which is by the way 10 years old. Just pointing out something.

WELCOME TO THE 2004 SEASON!

Cedar Point, Absolutly Amazing!!

I was at the park yesterday and Dragster broke down 3 seperate times, and they were rather lengthy shut downs. The ride did open at 9:30 for joe cool and ran for about an hour till 10:30 then it was shut down for 1 hour while the mechanics replaced some wire down on the under side of the launch track. Then it ran pretty well until about 5 where it was down for about anotehr hour for whatever reason. Then it opened up at 6 and shut down at about 6:10 for about 30 mins. Then it shut down at 7 along with every other ride becasue of the whole storm that hit CP about that time.

Dragster is still a very moody coaster, she runs only when she feels like it.

If someone out there would not mind laying a hand on the ol' girl and asking her to save a little kick for my visit on the 17th and 18th.

Bro J

As for B&M's going down hill. I would also guess that has a lot to do with how long the running season is, and how well regular maint. is carried out. Cedar Fair would copy up tops with both. Surrounded by fresh water as well.

Just so people know, Dragster was running today with 5 trains
Hoping this is not off topic. Can anyone tell me what time the line for TTD closes (since the park closes at 8 PM during the week)?

Well I had a new experience on TTD on Monday. I didn't have Joe Cool Club (invested in it now) and didn't get into the park until 10 AM. I was in the TTD station at 10:12, and at the front of the line ready to get on at 10:19. Two trains head out to begin the launch, gates open, I board the gold train. My lapbar is down, seatbelt is buckled, the train out on the track is revving up.....then the revving stops. I look over into the RideOp booth and see a little red light flashing. Uh-oh. Next thing I hear over the loudspeaker: "Open gates. Riders, your lapbars are being released please exit the train the same way you came into it. People on the platform please take a couple steps back to accomodate riders exiting back onto the platform. So both trains in the station unload, and are backed out into the unload. Then the two trains that are out waiting to be launched roll back (not the kind I was wanting) back into the station, and they are unloaded. What was going to be an 10 minute wait became an hour. Finally I get on the ride, the 3rd train out after the breakdown, and I was told afterwards that we about didn't clear the top, though it didn't feel like we slowed down enough to roll back

The 2nd time I got on the ride, things were going smoothly, and I loaded the train, rolled out of the station, and stalled halfway out to the launch staging area. So it is my turn to be rolled back into the station, and luckily I was not forced to exit the ride, and they just redispatched us, and off we went.

The 3rd time I got on the ride was Deja Vu. No, not the strip club. On the train, lapbar down, seatbelt buckled, ready to go. Breakdown. Same ride op at the helm of the ride (who was really nasty and rude over the loudspeaker to the rest of the ride ops). Same people in line around me. I get pulled out of the train again, as does the train that was out in the staging area. after maybe a half hour breakdown, without even launching a test train, I heard "Open gates, load trains." I was on the first train out of the station after the breakdown, and praying for a rollback, but I didn't get it. Of course, here I am complaining about a day in which I got 3 rides on TTD with a total wait time of about 2 hours. I waited 3 hours more than once last year. I think I'll stop complaining now. :o)

The line for all the rides, including TTD, close at park closing time. The rides are run until everyone in line rides.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Which could be til 4am on Dragster some nights ;)
What's this about track flying off today?

Well, I have been watching the webcam, and notice that it is running better each day. It's not even a week into the season, there are some bugs to work out. By June it should be running fairly consistant.
The last two days (5//11 & 5/12) TTD was running exceptionally well, with the occasional "block" hiccup here and there. Launch intervals were around 1 min. per launch unless there was a loading problem.

In two days I got seven rides in; three front rows. With an average wait of 15-20 min for a normal ride and 30-40 min for a front row ride, it was very rideable the entire day.

Kudos to CP for getting this World record breaking ride up to par.

Today,5/13, TTD was running pretty well in the morning w/ the occasional 10min block screw up. It was running well until about 1-2ish where it was down for over and hour and the station was pretty much emptied out. They got it working again and it was doing well, but at 430 it was stopped for rain. Seems a lot better then last year.

You know you're having a good day when you're looking at the green side of the grass and not the underside.

They have been running around a 1 minute interval today. Lets keep it up
