Next year, Top Thrill Dragster turns 10! If you have taken a look at the construction photos, you see that Dragster has really faded over the years. I propose a paint job during this off season. Millie got one (and it is still going on) for it's 10th. Maybe different colors for TTD too? I don't know. Discuss.

Millennium did not get a paint job for it's 10th anniversary (it was like 18 months later than that). I hope the supports get painted a much darker yellow if the ride does get a paint job in the upcoming years though.
Rides aren't repainted as a birthday gesture. They're repainted when they need it and the budget allows for it. Rides are not people.

I do agree that it needs painted. The red and yellow track and supports dominated the skyline in 2003, now they've faded quite a bit.

10th anniversaries typically have not meant much in terms of events, celebration, etc. Usually have to wait until 20+.
With that being said, I would think a repaint for Dragster would be cheaper than just about any other steel coaster in the park.

If we adjust for downtime, isn't this really more like Dragster's 5th...maybe 6th anniversary? It took me 3 seasons of visiting just to get on the damn thing.

Well of all the rides, TTD is a "drab" with it's faded colors.

Great. I guess I'm going to have to return his wrapped birthday presents. :(
When they eventually do paint Dragster, I would hope for different colors. That red on Iron Dragon, Dragster and Maverick are just so blah. The only ride it looks alright on is Maverick due to the theme and such... Iron Dragon should have been repainted a shade of silver like Top Gun at KI... I still hate how that ride looks ever since the repaint with that dang orange/red scheme.

Top Thrill Drab-ster?
And we all know that repainting a coaster a different color can increase its popularity, at least temporarily. Right now it's the favorite ride of 643 guests, and painting it silver could theoretically bump that number into the 700s.

I think Dragster is fine for now. I would always fight to keep it's maintenance at a higher priority. And it has been running great this year imo. I've actually noticed that (during most of my trips) Milennium was the maintenance headache while Dragster powered through the day with little to no downtime. But as far as repainting, I highly doubt there's any plans for its 10th (especially with GK being new). It'll probably just have a mention on the "Anniversary sign" at the Resort Gates. But if it were to under go a massive rehab and I were to pick a different color scheme(since Im it's biggest fan and all ;)), my vote would be to change the tower to a darker grey color and change the color of some of the trains. Perhaps replace some of the pre existing train colors to a white, black and silver color. But that's just my little fantasy idea. I'm still perfectly fine with the current color scheme.

I'd love to see a steel coaster at CP with dark grey supports and bright, neon-ish green track. I think they look so sweet together. It'd look slick on Dragster, but might not work with the Dragster "theme."

Heh. Just re-read this today and realized I totally forgot about Wicked Twister...which ironically is 10 years old this year. I've been on Pointbuzz for 10 years, maybe that means I'm due for a fresh coat of paint.
