Top Thrill 2 Pit Stop | Episode 11: Portal to Thrills

Their camera mount is apparently very "flexible".

mgou58:

Or graphics they could have painted or added? With the effort they are putting in everywhere else on this ride that station just seems…blah.

Dvo:
I'm surprised there's no artwork or even wrenches or something to go along with the racing theme. A plain white wall is... extremely plain indeed. As I told some others in a group chat, maybe they used all their signage budget on the entrance signs.

What on earth would make you think the white wall is the finished product? You're looking at a work in progress.

It may be on the list of things to do but if so, likely last on the list of things to do.

That todo list has to be getting short. Just 1 week away from the 1st preview event. Wondering if it'll still be a 'work in progress' next Sun, or if everything will be done.

Tony was asked about the theming details like lights and music and said they'd release that info later. I thought he gave a specific timeframe, but can't find that now. Think there will be another pitstop video before opening? I imagine the youtubers will be making their own after the events.

Still worried about the whole locker situation. Imagining a situation where you need the keychain to get in, but can't have it to get through the metal detectors. Hoping they'll say something to alleviate those fears.

Hmm,

Good question. I imagine this is the finished product because, oh, I don’t know, all of the finishing touches theming wise have now been installed elsewhere on the ride? My point was more about creating excitement in the station by having a window so to speak at the train racing by. I’m sure they had their reasons but simply placing metal panels and calling it a day takes away a bit from the overall experience. I’m sure the ride will be a hit no matter what, but with the attention given to the overall theme it was my (keyword here) personal opinion that a different divider option might have been better.

Gonna agree with you there, dude. About what they could do, they could put a rather cool F1 mural up there, perhaps carry the asthetic they're using for the signs all the way to the station wall. That would look pretty cool. Or maybe even a throwback to TTD.

Lash:
They could at least paint 12-E on it.

That would actually be a nice easter egg.

I think you're correct that, if they were going to do something else thematically with that wall, they would have already done so. Then again, who knows, construction schedules can be complex and nonlinear.

As for the divider itself, I would imagine the underwriters may have had some input on that. It could be as simple as a concern that it would be a distraction or hazard having trains flying by at 100+MPH twice per ride cycle right next to the ride operators.

Given the park's history around theming, what on earth would make you think that they wouldn't accept this as the finished product?

There’s a possibility that with just a week to go the push is to get the necessary stuff done. And that includes what some consider to be minimal theme, like entrance markers and marquis. Graphics can be done any time, maybe in the form of a wallpaper wrap.
Or the other possibility is that it’s intended to be a stark white wall and everyone will have their pants in a bunch over it.

It’s an opinion. Not someone getting their pants in a bunch. But anyways.

White-walls can be very sharp looking as I used to have them on my gas-guzzling Olds Toronado. Similar to this relic.

Safety guidelines have been posted. I'm glad to see that there's no maximum height to ride TT2, as a tall individual. Also they did give some explanation as to why the lockers weren't integrated into the queue similar to SV. While it's unfortunate that Zamperla made a late change to the requirements based on testing, the end result is a required paid locker for everyone riding who doesn't have a non-rider in their group.

I’m surprised that in-line lockers weren’t part of the initial design anyways. This is an aggressive high-speed rollercoaster. Loose articles of any kind were never going to be allowed anyways. Seems odd they thought it wasn’t going to be an issue. Also wondering why they can’t have a subset of free lockers just inside the entrance plaza for the ride but it is what it is.

They're going to catch so much flak for this decision. That line is going to be hours long at points this summer and not planning ahead to include that even if the manufacturer didn't recommend it in the first place is a clear oversight.

It's just more amateur hour decision-making and it's just weird to me. In many ways, CP was the gold standard for amusement/theme parks not named Disney and now? Well, we have this.

Last edited by Kevinj,

I am guessing this announcement was made to distract people from the scourge that is known as the white wall.

The no fanny pack rule seems very odd given that were allowed on TTD. Are the restraints on TT2 so different that they can’t accommodate a fanny pack?

Last edited by Shades,

I anticipated lockers would be required when the layout of TT2 was first announced. Especially with the spike so close to the midway. How many riders will have a non-rider in their group willing to hold everybody's stuff during the entire wait time? I'm guessing not many. What's CP's definition of a "nominal" fee for locker rental? I guess I won't be riding TT2 with the frequency that I rode TTD if I have to get a locker every time I decide to catch a ride. At least I can still head over to Millennium Force without emptying my pockets. Maybe Cedar Point can add an all-season locker option to its pass program (he says sarcastically).

More or less, yes; but it's hard to make great park-based decisions from 562.3 miles away (via I-77).

At least we know how they're paying for part of the lawsuit.

More proof that Carrie the GM really has been dead for at least 2 seasons.

(And Sparty42; apologies...I was trying to quote your post and accidentally hit "edit"; I put it back to its original form).

For those wondering like I was, single use lockers (2 hours) cost $3 last year. An all-day locker was $10.

I believe the timeframe we have been given with each tease or hype has been “the coming weeks”.
