Ok - I'm confused now. The picture of the piece they used to top off the ride (http://maverick.cedarpoint.com/_upload/gallery/mvt032.jpg) is not the one I, and lots of other people, thought it was going to be.
So, where does this (http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/data/media/358/proj07_august26_staging_06-026.jpg) piece go?
Possibly on the top of the swan pond hill? Are they really going to have an evac stair on that hill? Or, is there still room for this piece to go in?
It could be, but if we're to assume the larger supports are vertically straight, then I really think that crest has a very slight upward angle - almost nonexistent - and would allow for the piece in question to be attached.
Also, I can't imagine where else such a piece would fit. I suppose it could be for the swan trims, as Tim mentioned, but that certainly seems strange to me.

I think the piece installed today will be the highest point, but the end of that piece is the center of the arch, so the next piece will have a slight curve before starting the straight sections.
So I think that picture that Tim linked to above could be the next track piece to go into place. Look closely at that piece and it looks like the more curved part of it (closest to the camera) does not have the flat sections between the rails that the LSMs will be attached to.
Mark Small got it. That's the piece of track that is right after the one that is currently in place now. It is curved at the point closest to the camera but then straighens out for the lift.
