The "fog" in the Maverick tunnel was actually a fine mist of water and not traditional fog.
It is unlikely that it will return.

^^^ That WAS all it did, but just that made the launch tunnel 30X better.I only got to ride it once with the mist, but when you launch into it you are surrounded with it and the lights color everything so it feels like you are INSIDE a color and can't tell when it will end.I will miss it. It was the best effect in the park.

That wasn't the mist. That was some very bad acid. ;)

Nah, the best effect in the park has got to be that dt audio of that guy screaming, "We're losing control!!" ;)
If it was interfearing with the fire surpression system, they could have replaced the "smoke detectors" with a heat based version. That's what we had to do when we used to run a haunted house that used a lot of fog.
But I think it had more to do with the ride safety systems.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Yup, I know how fog machines and smoke detectors work together. Never mix 2 kinds of fog juice together, otherwise you can get some pretty funky fog that lingers for about an hour or 2 after it's been shut off. Set off the fire alarms at our auditorium when we were doing our Haunted Auditorium last year. Not fun!
As for the Maverick tunnel misters, well, too bad!

I know we're always all (mostly) ragging on CP for how the effects dwindle on their rides, but how do they do compared to other similar parks (not including Disney)?
Doesn't the Intamin Superman coaster at the New England Six Flags (sorry I cant think of the name at the moment) have some serious fog in its tunnel?
It's not THAT big of a deal, but since it does add to the ride experience, on the parks newest coaster, why just throw your hands up in the air and say "oh well" instead of finding a way to make it work?
Promoter of fog.
Its one thing to have fog effects or mist or whatever in a tunnel that doesn't act as a block (and therefore doesn't have any sensors), but to use that stuff in a block section when it interferes with the sensors is just asking for trouble.

It seems to me that with all todays innovations and technnology, they could find a way to use a little bit of fog or mist without compromising the whole works.
I was super before Super Stew was cool !
That would require investing in a ride that's already been built, which obviously is verboten at CP. ;)

Certainly, but it would be expensive and sorta pointless.

If it was pointless, then why did they bother with it the first place ? Somebody must have thought it was a good idea.

Something that adds to the ride experience of the park's current premiere and newest attraction is not pointless.
What is pointless is hoping for the fog to return, apparantly.
Promoter of fog.

Because in the first place, it was a cheap and easy idea. Now its expensive and complicated. It doesn't add enough to the ride to be worth it.

I agree, and would go as far as to argue the parks premier attraction this year is Magnum.

Hoping to one day build these great machines that we affectionatly call "Coasters"
It doesn't ?! Well now that would be your opinion wouldn't it ? I guess I shoud've said ... You'd think with all todays innovations and technology, they'd be able to use a little bit of fog or mist without turning it into a huge fiasco. Another words: A cheap and easy fix.
And speaking of the Magnum ... Doesn't/Didn't it use fog in the tunnels ?? How'd they get away with it there ?
