Today's Plain Dealer

From today's 'Tipoff' column in the Metro section:

"The big thrill:

The towering yellow structure being erected at Cedar Point will be the park's biggest roller coaster at nearly 400 feet tall, capable of hurtling riders at more than 100 mph. It will dwarf the Millennium Force, which is a trifling 310 feet tall. Cedar Point has been very hush-hush about "Project 2003," but will dish out the details this week and have it ready for the park's opening May 4. "

Now the freaks that have no self-control will run rampant for the rest of the week...sigh.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of # 16, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

I doesn't matter when they announce it, because we already know the general stats, and can't ride until may anyway. It just takes away from the "suspense" of not knowing a little earlier.
Thats good to know so people will stop complaining about when it will be annouced. But now here comes another round of people complaining about the ride.

What surprises me, is the line that the coaster is NEARLY 400 feet tall. Could 16 be less than 400 feet tall.

Glad to see an announcement is expected this week., I think most of us who were disapointed, have vented all their disapointment at this point.

Tom

It does matter when they announce it because we DON'T know all the stats. Sure, we know it's over 400 ft, and we're pretty sure it goes over 100 mph, but when you go to rcdb, do you want it to say "100+mph" and "400+ft"? I want to know the exact numbers and the guessing has gotten old. Because of what you said ("we already know the general stats"), it is redundant thanks to the same old people complaining and estimating. I may be alone in this, but I'm tired of listening to it. Hopefully, this will just shut people up. But, if people do start complaining, I, for one, will not only be disappointed, but in shock. We have the tallest and fastest roller coaster, so just sit back, enjoy the ride, and don't upon your mouth unless you're screaming your head off.

(Insert something clever here)

I'm just glad it will be announced before NoCoaster Con and EastCoaster!
Good point scottie but you know that people will always complain because either its not inverted, not long enough, not high enough, and all that other stupid crap. I personally can't wait until cedar point opens. And I know that I will be not disappointed or complain. I'm just happy that they are building another roller coaster.

I agree, you guys should be happy no matter what size or how fast the coaster is. You could ONLY be getting a 4-D theater such as the case here at BGT!! I am planning my first trip to CP in August and can't wait to experience America's Roller Coast!!

The announcement has been planned for Thursday, January 9th.

I agree the complaints have gotten tiresome, and hope they stop after the announcement. However, if the coaster is less than 400 feet, like the 389 first rumored, all bets would be off.

The only thing I want to know is the name of this thing!!! I hate rcdb calling it "unknown!"

DELETED!

This ride is going to be incredible . I can't wait to know the statistics, and the other park improvements. Some people will still complain no matter what. With stats, they'll just complain more accurately.

I say that even when they know the stat they will still be saying that there is more to the ride then they annouced

I'm sure everyone agrees there'll be no real suprises with the announcement. I'll just be hopefull that CP has a good web page for it with some new and old pics that noone has seen. Something more detailed to look at. Not that even this will give anyone anything new to discuss.
I wana know the name too!! I had a crazy dream about the new ride and it was called "BLASTER", highly unlikely. I can say im looking forward to the annoucement.

"ElectroBlast" mmmmmmmmm

Right on coaster runner!
What makes you say they will announce it on Thursday?

Do you think it will be in the morning edition of the paper or we'll have to wait to see it on the tv news?
