the living conditions are just horrible. If you have money i suggest getting a place off property with some friends and split the rent.
I was in cedars, it was just more convenient because the park is right there and I didnt have to worry about the bus or wasting gas driving to work.
I have never seen rooms that small before and its insane how they expect 3 people to live together in one of those rooms.

They don't expect anyone to live there... they expect you to sleep there.

That is true, but how about on days you have off or when the park is only open friday-sunday? your living there during the week. granted cedars is closed durring that time (and cedars is a S-hole) but commons is your home monday-friday.
Its obvious why they dont put money into them to fix them up. Why put money into stuff for your employees when all they do is trash it. Everyone ocmplains the employees are treated like crap, well most of them act like crap, it sucks for those who do their best and clean up after themselves. When I was living at cedars I would walk in and the lobby where the TV is there would be garbage and popcorn and food and spilled drinks all over the place and NO ONE was around.
I really think the only way to make the living better would be for all those living there to take action and clean up after themselves. The rooms too, the rooms would be nice if they werent all patched up from holes that were put into the walls and what not.
I cant speak much of commons because i was only there for about 3 weeks until cedars opened. The rooms werent crap from what i seen, they were just small, some were even smaller than others and 3 people staying there is hell. You gotta keep everything locked up when your not around (so much gets stolen around there) and your just stepping on each others toes trying to move around.
I suggest going with a friend, or get a couple of friends to go that way you know who your living with and you can trust them. It will also make you feel more relaxed around everyone and will help your summer be more fun.

That's honestly probably the reason. The other is, what's the return on investment? (it's not monetary)
Where are you supposed to live then Jeff? I mean you can't be expected to spend 100% of the awake time out of your room. Some of the employees bring computers so that they can legitimately communicate over e-mail to family members and friends they left hundreds of miles at home. Or even thousands of miles.
What about rainy days? Kinda sucks to hang out outside. So you may not hang out in your room, but a friends room. They're all the same.
They just aren't the greatest living conditions.
You know what, even in college, getting a double to myself since I was an R.A., I spent very little time in my room with my eyes open. Maybe that's just me. I don't know... if I worked there, I really think that I'd be worried about missing something hanging out in my room.

I think it may be a little different in college as you're not working 10-14 hour days.
I probably spent more time in my room than most, but there still was quite a bit of time spent in the rooms, especially at night. The 2 choices you had were hang out in your room or outside or in the rec center. All of those do get pretty boring after awhile, so generally you end up in your room or others' rooms.
Plus, I expected you to say something like "I spent all sorts of time in my room in college because I had a parade of women waiting to get in" ;) hehe
When I worked there, I didn't feel much like doing anything after work, let alone going out to the bar or something. Some people would hang out at The Curb for hours or go to Louie's every night, but there's no way I could do that and then be able to function the next morning.
I generally got off my feet as soon as I could. "Feet conservation," as I called it, while working there is very important. I did, however, indulge in some [relatively] high stakes hold'em with some of the older seasonals, though. That was always a fun time.

I was contracted at Antiques, I lost alot of weight (and i wasnt that big to begin with) and all the running caused really really bad blisters and peeling. I left antiques the 2nd or 3rd (i forget) week of july, and I left CP almost exactly 2 weeks ago, and im still recovering from blisters and peelingness on the bottoms of my feet.
and I would do it all over again...i really regret leaving, i think about it constantly

Awww, you are not dumb you are loyal to your friends and that's a very admirable quality. We all miss you, and I think it was Tyler or Krystal who saw your post on here so we were like John!! It hasn't been the same without you. If you want anyone's contact info like e-mail's or phone junk just e-mail me.
In my own opinion, we were treated very poorly as employees at Cedar Point, and I would never return to the rides department. It was scary the way things were run. End of my story, period.

your right, alot of stuff is unbelievable. i couldnt believe how some things were done when i started and it is scary, i've said it before and I will say it again...cedar point is LUCKY that no one has ever been seriously hurt on their rides (especially during this years Corkscrew incident but im not sure if we can get into that here so PM me if you would like the story)
Employees too...i mean those lift walks are dangerous...you really have nothing to hold onto and those little boards can EASILY trip you (although I really did enjoy my lift walk the view is unbelievable) Its part of the job I guess (they ask you if your afraid of heights during the interview), and as long as no one has been hurt its the way things are going to be done.

John, Morse here, It was rough to see you go, and the streakers were never the same without you man. If I were in the same spot, and my buddy Doug left, I would have walked too. What boggles my mind, is that what your buddy did (just what i heard) is no where near what another girl on a crew did (she may have been your replacement). If someone gets cought drunk at big bash, underage, and has to attend rehab, how does your friend get fired, adn she gets a write up...even though im not even sure if she got that. the whole system is messed up.
I dont know if I'll ever return to CP, but if i do, it won't be for the job, it will be for the people. Thats the advice i give to all thinking about a job with the park, dont go into it for the money, do it for the friendships. Because I'm closer to some of the friends i made there, than i am to my Fraternity brothers. thats what cedar point does for people.

Well put Rick...i miss the people ALOT. i miss the whole crew, , joy, phil (best supervisors EVER) it was the hardest part about leaving and i would have went to say good bye before hand but i figured it would be best if i didnt because i think it could have gotten emotional, and im not good with stuff like that (especially after the nickname i was given haha)
