Tomorrow is the big day. Try to remember the excitement you feel tomorrow, the great way you treat guests, etc. In August, when you are tired, drained and worn out try to think back to today and remember how much fun it was.
You have one of the most interesting jobs a young person can have. Don't take it for granted...have fun. My first amusement park job was at Geauga Lake WAY back in 1988...when some of you were just newborns (if that). I still have GREAT memories of that summer...working in Rainbow Island with all of those crazy kids and their crazier parents. But, after spending 7 years in the industry spanning over 3 different parks...that first year is still my most memorable.
Good luck to you all.

I wasn't even born then! Oh well, I can't wait for tomorrow! I work for 5 hours, but it'll still be fun.
It's always the first and last days of the season that's the most fun, but the last one can be sad, too.

Chief, don't feel bad. I worked at GL the summer of 1985. I was in food service at the Warf and The burger stand that at the time was by the wave pool near the entrance to Big Dipper. It was one of the best experiences I have had in my life and boosted my love of amusement parks and rollercoasters to a whole new level.

Well, There is one more weekend left. The last day is fun and sad at the same time. A full summer at Cedar Point has come and gone again. At this point I feel that I do need abreak from the park, but in Feb. I will start the count down again. Millennium Force I will be back for year number 4. To all who rode this summer, Have one more wounderful time at the best park in the world.

rideop332, did you work MF in 2004? If so, who are you? If 2008 will be your 4th year on MF, I assume you were there the year I was.
EDIT: I just realized 2008 would be your 5th year. Sorry. Apparently my math skills aren't working today.

No, 2008 would be his 5th year. That's Jon, he started weekends in 2005 (not like I'm stalking him or anything...that's not my type...I do like pancakes though ;)).
2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator
Definitely the best job I'll ever have. I'm not a very outgoing person, but talking to the guests daily helped, I liked it too. I would work there again if I could.. but the pay is the only thing keeping me from coming back. Im not complaining about it though, but I think I can do better than minimum wage;)

ha you must relate the horror that Kidworks could become (but hopefully you didn't have to deal with fistfights between adults)
I remember Rainbow Island good times I had there
My signature was edited because it was more than three lines. I'm naughty!

We had one of those this year on my (the Blue Streak) platform. Seriously, some people care way too much if their kid can ride. Yeah, that's right, there was a fist fight on the platform because the parents of a kid were extremely mad (read: transformed into the Hulk), accused another family that walked into the station behind them of pointing their kid out to me (I didn't initially realize she had "platform shoes"), which they didn't, and on their way out of the station, the mom decides to stop and accuse the guy who walked in behind them of pointing their daughter out again, the dad comes over (the guy being accused is just trying to mind his own business and ignore the accusations), and then before anyone could react, the dad had thrown several punches.
That is a very brief version of what actually happened, and I gotta say, because of everything that occurred during the incident, I about left that very night. Not a pleasant evening, at all.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
^ I once got punched in the face by a guy who thought he had won a prize in my game, but he didn't knock the cans off the table. Once I explained to him the rule, he came over the counter swinging.
Best part of the story - it was 9:30 am and security escorted him out of the park. He never even got to ride one ride.
Wow, now that's crazy. Sometimes I'm amazed at the things people get physically upset about. Honestly, what kind of person physically assaults someone because they didn't win a game?
