Tires and Engine on dragster trains.

I'm jsut curious if anybody has a clue why they got rid of the theming on the TTD trains and replaced them with an extra row of seats. I heard from a friend of mine the was a ride op last year that they were removed because the contributed to rollbacks. He said it made no sense to remove them and add an extra row of seats becasue the ride was only designed for 16 people not 18 and that helped contribute to the failure rate of the coaster.
Tires work best when still attached to the car. And we'll leave it at that ;)

So it is true that one flew off and landed on the island
yes it is true. I beileve the blue train lost a tire that flew under ID. Some of the parts were used for halloweekends last year.

Does anybody know where the pictures are at of the night the tire thing happened? I remember seeing some in August or something. This is a bad topic. I myself really liked the way the trains looked and added a very cool appearence for the ride. I'm trying to forget about them. The engine of course won't ever be coming back, the tires have a fat chance too. The spoiler though could fit and look nicely on the trains.

To answer the question above the constant rollbacks that plaque the ride now started after the themeing was taken off.

The engines are currently hanging out in the middle of Mean Streak. Yesterday when I rode MS I was just looking around in the middle of the ride by the queues that are rarely used now and at the end of the ride by the mid-brakes look straight down and just next to the ride are the engines from Dragster along with one red and one blue train from Gemini, two Mine Ride trains and a few White Water Landing boats. If those back queues were open you could probably get a good look at them since they are just sitting out in the open not covered or anything, except for the Mine Ride trains they are shrink wrapped.

I don't know if it's against the rules but would I be aloud to take pictures from the back queues if it is closed off. I don't see how this could be a problem as long as I don't go on the grass or something. I saw the Gemini trains out there a week ago. They really stood out.

Also back by the gemini cars and stuff is the support that held the spoiler. There is a few of them in a pile right there.

I'm not sure about breaking any rules by going in a part of the queues that aren't open but you could go to the employee lounge and ask somebody there.
i don't know if this is fact but weren't the spoilers on the trains the racing spoilers you can see on some street racing cars?

if they were those spoilers should help the ride because the are designed to be aerodynamic and make the car go faster. *** Edited 5/27/2004 4:28:38 PM UTC by coolfun5688***

Spoilers do not make the car go faster. They force air over them, creating downforce on the car which "adds" weight to the back to keep the tires on the road. If anything it makes the car go slower, but increases the grip at high speeds.

thanks for the info mathew
Oh come on everyone knows that in the street racing scene, huge aluminum wings alone add 50HP... ;)

That really stinks. I thought the tires and engine parts on the dragster trains were really, really cool. They gave the illusion that it was a real dragster. Now i feel like crying, i should write a complaint letter to Cedar Point. Just joking, but it does bum me out. Does the dragster still have the car noises go off, the screeching of the wheel and so on?

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Yes, they still have the reving engine, the tires screeching, and the smoke effects.

Yep, and the decals are good for 10hp each! Havent they figured putting a "park bench" spoiler on a front wheel drive car defeats the purpose? Well anyways...

Have you theen my baythball?

On May 28 I did not see the engines from TTD. I did although get a picture of Gemini's two extra trains from Mean Streak's overflow queue. I'll get the picture up in a few days.

I bet the TTD sound effects will die off in the next 5 years.

As for those Gemini trains... Why the hell do they need them? There is no way Gemini can operate 3 trains on each track.

Or... could they just brake the trains on the blocks in the middle of the ride?

I doubt the sound effects will ever go. It gives the ride character. The launch wouldn't be even half as exciting as it is. Just remember MF is going into its fifth year of operation and it still has the same music on it and still is just as exciting.

They'll keep the Gemini trains just like they do with extra train on Mantis. They'll cycle them through each season.

I heard there was plans for the train theming to return on TTD's trains for 2005? Any truth to this?
