Tips for 2 day tour plan?

Hello all,

I am planning a trip for 2 days to Cedar Point over a Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday in mid-June. I was wondering if anyone had any good strategies for how to tour the park (e.g. what rides to ride when). We do not have kids and there will only be two of us. Thanks.

Personally I would go with the Tues/Wed idea, because at least to me, Tues have a higher chance of being "dead" days then Thursday but it doesnt really matter, not going on Fri/Sat/Sun is a good choice.

As for what to do first, parking is actually the first important thing you need to do. When you pull up to the gates, stay to the left and ask to park in the Soak City lot, that way you will be entering at the Magnum Entrance which is the closest entrance to Maverick and TTD. As for what ride to do first, that depends, are you a Platinum Pass holder at any CF park or are you staying at on of the CP resorts? If the answer to one of those is yes, then you get an hour of ERT in the morning (Maverick, MF, Raptor, Planet Snoopy, Iron Dragon.) If you do get the ERT then from the Magnum gate go directly to Maverick, and ride, (or if its down, skip it, and come back to it later) then go to MF. That should bring us up to right about 9:45/9:50 which means its time to head to TTD, which will open at 10.

If you dont get ERT, start at TTD, since thats the only "big" coaster thats not open for ERT it will have the shortest line. Anyways, after experiencing TTD, swing back towards MF and ride Wildcat (horrible capacity) and while your there ride Iron Dragon. From there hop on the train to Frontiertown, and then ride Mean Streak and Skyhawk. Also, if you havent rode Maverick yet, its time, there will probably be a full queue but that is only 1:45 wait so its not that bad. If you have already ridden Maverick, continue on to Gemini (which should be racing by now.) Now its right about lunch time, and you have a decision to make, what are you going to eat? My suggestion is the TGI Fridays at the Hotel Breakers, but no matter what you choose, the Gemini midway has some fun flats you should think about doing before eating. Those would be the Tilt a Whirl (in Camp Snoopy, one of the spinniest versions Ive ridden on,) the Monster and the Witches Wheel (Enterprise.)

After lunch, its time to head to the front of the park, as Raptor, Maxair and Wicked Twister should be experiencing their shortest lines of the day. That should be priority 1, 2, 3 after that, other not miss ride on the Main Midway include the Troika, Blue Streak, Chaos, Cedar Downs (unique racing carosel, located next to the Raptor Cobra Roll,) and Power Tower. Also not to be missed is a Mr. Potato French Fry (big thick fries fried in peanut oil) which can be found behind the Space Spirl, next to Raptor, next to the Motor Cross Stadium, and by Gemini.

Now night should be starting to fall, and since CP only stays open until 10 at the latest on both nights you are there you only have realistically time for 2 night rides, you need to decide which ones they will be: personally I would go with MF and Magnum (which by the way will have a near walk on wait close to closing) but Maverick and TTD are also strong contenders. End your day riding those.

Day 2: I would suggest repeating day ones opening schedule up to riding TTD then making sure that you ride the coasters you have missed on day one. 2 days is plenty of time to see the park.

The best trips I've taken, we've used the buy-one-get-one starlite coupon from the Getaway Guide the first night, usually a Tuesday, and used our 5 hours (at about 12 dollars) to hit the biggest rides. Then we go in early on whatever discount we can get the 2nd day and are laid back, having already knocked out our priority rides.
