Tim Horton's?

This is way off-topic, so if it has no place here, it's cool if it's closed.

I'm a Canadian guy, and I love my Canadian coffee, so I'm wonder if there are any Tim Horton's near Cedar Point?

I checked the Timmy's website, and there are 63 locations in Ohio, but not one in Sandusky. There are a bunch in Columbus and some in Cleveland, but I'm not quite sure if they're on the WAY to CP or not, but I'd like to find out :P

If anyone has any clue about 'em, please let me know!

Thanks.

Nothing even in the Cleveland area that I am aware of. I think the closest location would be an hour drive west to Toledo.

That wouldn't be too bad though if he's driving down from Windsor. I would recommend buying their pre-ground coffee if you are staying at the point. That way you can just make your own in the morning.

Tim Hortons, eh? I likely know of every single Tim Hortons on route to all my favourite vacation spots. In Canada, Tim Hortons is like a religion... or at the very least, like a friendly neighbourhood dispenser of addictive substances.

I live in London, ON, and of coarse get a coffee on my way to the highway. I usually cross at the Sarnia-Port Huron crossing because I find the wait is a lot less than in Windsor. There's a Timmie's in Port Huron just off the highway.

The next Tim Hortons on route is in Ohio on highway 2. It's just outside of Toledo in "Oregon". If you're getting on highway 2 from the 80/90, it's on the left hand side almost right away.

Cedar Point is about an hour past Timmies.

I remember the first time at the Oregon Tim Hortons I actually stopped to thank the owner for opening a store on the way to Cedar Point!

It must be hard for all the Americans to understand our obsession with Tim Hortons... and beer... but I guess there isn't a whole lot else to do in the great white north, eh ;)

I've heard that American Tim Hortons aren't quite the same as Canadian Tim Hortons, in quality that is. I've never actually been to one in the States so I'm wondering if thats true. As a Canadian it is my obligation to visit Timmy's at least once a week. I live in Windsor and in the city alone we have atleast 30 Tim Hortons locations, I have about 3 in walking distance from my house actually. We had a Krispy Kreme open here a few years ago, I had one in Detroit a few years back and loved it so when I heard that Windsor was getting one I was excited... but it closed down a few days ago, now I'm mad. It is also my tradition to stop at Tim Hortons on Huron Line (the road that leads to the Ambassador Bridge) and grab a large coffee and a doughnut to get my day started.

Is Starbucks insanely expensive in the States too? Because infact a Starbucks just opened near my house this week. A medium coffee at Timmys is something like $1.20 but at Starbucks its over $2.00.

Starbucks is a ripoff and nowhere near the quality of Tim Hortons.

I wish someone would open a TH over here in Grand Rapids. We have them over by Detroit, but they haven't quite spread here yet.

Goodbye MrScott

John

JuggaLotus has strong words about Starbucks!

Are they overpriced? Yes. Are the good? Yes. Are they available in more areas than Tim Hortons? Yes. Can you get Starbuck's at Cedar Point? Yes. Have I ever been to a TH? No. They are not availble in Holland, MI yet, either.

I really appreciated the addition of Donut Time and Starbuck's to Cedar Point's additions. Good coffee early in the morning is always a good thing!

Where I live, we have a Tim Horton's and a Starbucks. In my opinion, they're both great. They both have excellant coffee, and food.

I love stopping at one of them in the morning before school and getting a coffee and a cinnamon roll.

That's true with a lot of products, and in most cases the Canadian version is almost always better. Take Heinz ketchup, for example. The Canadian version is far superior, and I kid you not that when a Canadian friend comes down to visit she always brings us a bottle.

The Canadian beer went this way for years. It used to be that Molson's Canadian brand here was crap. It came in a green bottle and didn't taste anything like the stuff from The Beer Store. Then in the last few years they finally started importing the real stuff from the entire line, including XXX at the full 7.3% alcohol rate. Of course, I don't know if Canadian has "twin label technology" in Canada though... that might be an American marketing thing.

Gotta love the Heinz ketchup. There is a big Heinz plant about 40 kilometers from here, its actually right across the lake from Cedar Point.

Jeff, I am shocked that you would say anything is better than Budweiser....... *** Edited 2/7/2005 5:59:31 AM UTC by Jeff***

I also think many americans can relate to the obsession for beer.

Starbucks is garbage (IMHO). People put so much crap in thier drink it isn't even coffee anymore. And yes it is outragously overpriced. Many things in the world have skyrocketed in cost over the past few years. Milk, Tomatoes, Beef (and ither meats); but coffee isn't one of them. What ever happened to the cup of coffee for less than a buck. What a rip.

I am not a fan of many national chains.

Good point Mr Scott. Starbucks is a dramatically different blend of coffee, one that is distinctly Starbucks. I don't like the stuff personally, but a lot of my close friends swear by it.

Tim Hortons coffee just about always tastes the same nomatter where you go; for me, it tastes like home. There's just something incredible about having that first cup of Timmies in the morning, or better yet, the first cup of Timmies in days on the way home from Cedar Point.

I'm sure Starbucks provides the same healthy addiction for Americans, and lucky for you that Cedar Point opened one!

Never thought that a Tim Hortons thread on an American site would generate this kind of response!

My first US Molson experience was in 1998 in Chicago. We were THRILLED to find Molson Canadian at the store... but much to our horror it tasted quite literally like skunk! No wonder I had talked to so many Americans who thought our beer sucked!

The Canadian I had at Cedar Point was exactly the same as the stuff up here, same goes for Castaway Bay.

Somethings are not meant to be tinkered with... never take the alcohol out of a good Canadian beer!

Jay

Well Molson's is merging with Coors. Hopefully the people at Molson's will rebuff any attempt by the Coors management to mess with their recipe. What will probably happen is that they'll start bottling it in Golden to get around the customs issue and that will be that. Geez, somebody get me an Elsinore, EH!

I would sooner drink my own urine than Bud over Canadian. Come to think of it, there isn't any American beer I'd choose over something from nearly any other country.

I'll take any Great Lakes Brew over just about any beer. Dortmunder Gold. MMMmmmmmm.

Molson XXX will crack the whip on your butt! Strong good stuff. I'll never forget the first time I drank that stuff. Or I should say I'll never remember..... ;)
I've never visited a Tim Horton's. After reading this thread I'll have to swing by and at least give the coffee a try.
