Typically on weekdays I get off of work somewhere around 5:15, so living half an hour away from the Point it wasn't really worth heading up after work until after Memorial Day when the schedule went to 10pm every night. Even though my brother and I knew it was the night before Coastermania and it would be slightly more crowded, the forecast had been calling for rain which we figured would compensate. We grabbed food at home and took off a little after 6:00.
As we drove around Perimeter Road we both shed a silent tear that we wouldn't be riding Millenium, but quickly shook that off and took a good look at the construction as it went by. Nothing much that I haven't already seen in pics here on Pointbuzz, but nifty to see in person nonetheless. As we walked into the back gate we saw a pretty empty Magnum train zipping by on its way to the lift hill and took that as a good omen.
Walked onto the Magnum platform about 7:00 for a 6-1 ride with a wait of only one train, then headed back towards Skyhawk. On the way past Gemini we saw that they were running two trains, and since every time I've ridden it this season it's been only one we jumped right into line. As we walked up the steps my brother said something along the lines of "you know how much it would suck if they stopped running two trains right about now?" Sure enough, we walked onto the platform and the red train was all chained off and parked. *sigh* Got into line near the front of the blue train, and the disappointment was quickly forgotten in the face of the amazing Gemini crew. (Kudos to Eli, imo THE best spieler in the entire park.) We headed back to Skyhawk and waited two cycles to get on. Great ride, they've really improved the cycle times.
Frontier Trail up to the front of the park (sighing again as we passed MF), and as we walked by the Sky Ride station my brother told me he'd never been on it. We made a quick U-turn and wound up in a bucket surveying the lines (or lack thereof) in the front half of the park from above. We literally walked right onto Raptor, and one of the ride ops got a little snippy with my brother while he was getting his seat belt put on. Neither one of us has been at all impressed with the Raptor crew this year, but the ride is still one of the best in the park. On to Wicked Twister where we walked right on to row 15, and they were having fun with the launch. We heard it as we walked through the queue, they were just saying three, then "twoone" real fast and launching. Over to maXair for a two-cycle wait. In my book it's still a tossup between maXair and Skyhawk. A quick ride on Disaster Transport and we headed back up the midway.
At that point it was about 9:00. We rode PT down and headed back to Magnum. I frowned at the autospiel that was playing on the speakers in the queue line, but the station was almost empty and they had the middle of the train closed. We waited one train for another 6-1 ride, which turned out to be a trimless run that was the fastest run I've ever had on Magnum. We were getting bounced around in the back car, I can't even think how bad the ejector seat would've hurt. We went again and got a ride on 5-1, with a little bit of trim this time but still very, very fast.
About a half hour left in the day, we decided to finish it with as many Skyhawk runs as we could fit in. At this point Skyhawk was in "pick-your-number" mode, and we took advantage of it. Got to chat with a couple of ACE guys who were doing pretty much the same thing we were. Rode once, missed one cycle, but then got on the next four consecutive cycles before my brother's stomach called it a night. A guy in an S&S shirt was standing there for awhile, which had me a little worried but it kept running.
Three hours, sixteen rides, one great evening. :)

Nice TR. We went on Monday, and I wish we could have gone all week, but it was still fun. Skyhawk really has short lines at the end of the day (and at the beginning according to the webcams). GREAT use of 3 hours!
Four discount funday tickets to Cedar Point: $130.96
Overnight stay at Breakers Express: $70
Riding rides the size of skyscrapers while "legally" breaking the local speed limit: Priceless
The way he made it sound though is they had something playing in the queue but not up in the station. Maybe he can clarify.

Are we talking about the "no smoking, etc" spiel that plays once in between about 87 80's songs? Or is this something new?

Eli's gaining a fan base. I also gave a nod to him in my latest trip report. The guy cracks me up. :)

I as well have to say Eli is quite funny. On tuesday he made sure to point out my Jaws t-shirt to the entire platform.
The only speil I heard was in line and it's the one set to the Terminator music. The station was still being done by the ops. *** Edited 6/5/2006 12:44:15 AM UTC by Coastern3rd***
Yeah, that's all I was talking about. It was in the queue only and went through the no-smoking and no-sitting-on-silver-rails things. First time I'd heard it so I thought I'd mention it.
