This was my favorite trip of the year. It was my cousins sweet 16 surprise birthday trip.
Wednesday night I told my cousin that we had to take a trip to Kentucky, because a friend of ours needed help. She thought it was strange and last minute, but she tagged along.
We left the house late, and arrived in Sandusky around 1:30pm. We pretended that we had to stop to eat. We told her that there was a giant Crackerbarrel with a ton of water slides, and we could take a break there.
We then led her to believe that the GPS was taking us to the Crackerbarrel, which happened to be right next to Cedar Point. As we neared the causeway I thought she would know for sure what was going on. But instead she started crying!
My sister and I were quite convincing. :) We pretended to argue with eachother. I was saying that she shouldn't have taken us near Cedar Point, and she claimed that I read the GPS wrong and that it was my fault. I said that we would just have to turn around at the toll booths.
We got up to the toll booth and my cousin was still crying, pretty hard at this time. We turned around and yelled, "Happy Birthday!!! Surprise!!" Her face was priceless. We got all of this on tape too..it's pretty hilarious. lol.
Once we got into the park we gave her her gifts, which included matching outfits for us to wear. We also made shirts that said Cedar Point 2010 on them, and Sweet 16 on hers.
We headed straight for Magnum. Since it was my cousin's trip, she was making the calls on what we would ride and when. She wanted to ride in the middle, so we did. Now I know what Ben H is talking about. The middle seats are granny seats!! lol.
The past few times I have been to CP, I have been riding everything front seat. Riding in the middle gave me barely any airtime. I was very dissapointed and wanted to ride again, but my cousin wanted to move on. Nobody that I go to Cedar Point with loves Magnum as much as me. ;)
We headed to Corkscrew, which I have never been on. I always heard that it hurt, and to be honest I was just too chicken to ride it. But it was my cousin's birthday, and it was time to give it a try.
I felt so dumb afterward. I cannot believe that I put off riding it for so many years. It was fun, but very mellow and too short. I liked it a lot though.
After riding Corkscrew I thought to myself what else have I been avoiding that I might love. I was ready to ride the coasters that I hadn't tryed yet.
We headed to Cedar Downs, and raced eachother. From there we headed up to Disastor Transport. Our shirts that we had made were glowing in the dark. I always ride DT with my sun glasses on, so it will make it darker. It was a very fun ride this time. It surprised me.
My cousin wanted to win a prize, so we played the game where you race by shooting the water. We played twice, and she won this pink squirrel thing.
Next we headed to Blue Streak. The ride op was the biggest downer ever. We told him that it was my cousin's 16th birthday, and he kept asking us why would we bring her there. He went on and on about how he hates his job, and they shouldn't put him on the mic if they don't want people to hear him complain.
We rode front seat, and the second half of the ride was really boring..after the turn around. Not much airtime at all over the last few hills. It was just a bad day for Blue Streak and the Blue Streak crew. lol.
From there we rode Calypso twice, and then headed to Raptor. It was about 4:30pm by this time, and it was a walk on. We rode twice, and I have to say Raptor is not that great this year. I always ride it twice, hoping the second time will be better...but it was just kind of boring. Maybe next time I will get a good ride.
After Raptor we rode the Giant Wheel. We all needed a little break, and had never been on it. I got some nice pictures at the top. It was relaxing, but too long.
We ate dinner at Panda Express. It wasn't too expensive, and the food was pretty good. They gave us a lot too.
From there we headed down Frontier trail and decided to ride SkyHawk. This is another one that I have never been on, and never cared to try. But after Corkscrew, I wanted to try everything.
I am so glad that I did. It was amazing. Probably one of my new favorites. We rode it twice. Both times with our arms out, and we got great airtime.
If RipCord is anything like SkyHawk, I cannot wait to ride it. I bet it is better. If we had the extra money, we would have done RipCord right then.
We made our way back to Magnum, and rode front seat this time. It was a much better ride. :)
Next was Dragster, front seat. The line wasn't too bad. My sister went first, and my cousin and I went next. We all wanted to ride in the front seat.
I hate the speed in the beginning of this ride, but I love the rest of it. Especially going down. We rode with our hands up once we headed up the hill, and it was really fun.
I would love Draster if there was more to it. The launch kind of makes me queezy, but the rest of the ride is great. It is just not worth the wait.
After Dragster we rode Matterhorn and Scrambler. Then we made our way up to MaxAir. It was actually kind of boring. I cannot believe that I used to be afraid to ride it. lol. We rode it at sunset, and the view of the park upside down was beautiful.
My cousin and sister wanted to ride Wicked Twister, so I rode MaxAir again. I wish I hadn't though, because by the time it started they were already done with Wicked Twister.
When I got off we headed to Millenium Force. For some reason my cousin loves Dragster, but is afraid of MF. So she went to the arcade instead of riding with us.
I wish we would have went to MF earlier, because it was almost a walk on. I havn't seen the line that short in a long time.
We made it there just before 9pm, so we only got one ride in. This is why I wish I hadn't gone on MaxAir twice, because we could have been on MF twice instead.
They kicked us out of line for the front seat, so we chose the middle. Never again. I should have learned my lesson with Magnum. I have never had such a boring ride on MF.
We walked through Starlight Experience, and then headed back to our hotel. Overall it was a great trip. We had so many walk ons, and I conquered some of the things I thought I would never get on.
My only dissapointment of the trip was even with all of the walk ons, we still didn't have enough time to go on everything that I wanted to. If we had more time I would have rode Mantis and Power Tower, which are the other 2 that I have never been on. I also wanted to ride Maverick again, since I have only been on it once. But there is always next time. :)
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
Try back seat on Raptor next time, and absolutely ride back seat on MF. We rode Raptor today, and it was absolutely flying through the course.
