Some of you people don't understand!!! Mill Force Mike, and CoasterBob, repeat after me: "In order for it to twist, it must move away from the tower!" If it did not move away from the tower, you would get one hell of a head-ache!!! (did you follow that? ;))

Kel - I DO understand that very clearly.

I am just saying that the track has gone PAST vertical and is therefore moving away from the tower. I am actually beginning to think that the twist on the launch side will be something like 180 degrees CW. However, in the process of twisting, the train will pitch forward (beyond vertical) and you will actually end up on the tophat which will be shaped like a cobra roll (except that you will be right side up).

Sorry, but that is the best way I can describe what I am now seeing in my head.

The track IS NOT past vertical...it's twisting!!!! Twisting is NOT past vertical!!!

CoasterBob, look at the picture that Barry posted. Xcelerator does do the same thing, and really, when you factor in the twist, it never gets more than 90 degrees.

Once again, that beach web cam is an illusion... if you look at the other two web cams, you will notice that the track on the launch side is starting to move "in" towards the center of the tower. Because the beach cam is looking at the tower from an angle and not straight on the side, the track that is really starting to travel towards the center of the tower appears to be traveling "out" from the tower (past 90) but it really isn't.

Well, yeah, that's all well and good, except for the fact that there AREN'T SUPPORTS UP THAT HIGH!!! If you wanted to talk about Xcelerator's Twistage degree, that's another topic, and belongs in a place like coasterbuzz. But this is about hitting the supports more than it is about how much farther than 90 it goes.

----------------

What's so bad about hitting the supports? Oh wait, never mind.

XLR8 is an Arrow suspended at Six Flags Astroworld. The ride at Knott's is Xcelerator. Spell it out.

Majin & Kel - Thank-you for your patient and CLEAR explanations of what you think is happening. I understand what you are saying.

I just think that something else is happening with the track and I am apparently having a hard time communicating it. We'll all just have to see what transpires in the next few days or weeks.

im sorry if i offended you. i realize that XLR8 is an arrow suspended at astroworld, not to be in anyway associated with your precious cedar fair parks, thats why i spelled xcelerator xlr8R... you see that extra R? plus i thought that youd like my attempt to save space on your servers, but apparently not.

Unless you are stupid ( I am assumming not) I would just like to inform you that 5 keystrokes will not save a lot of space on servers. I don't think anyway....

The new horizontal support that is coming off of the vertical section of the tower clearly shows that it is going to be holding the track at about a 100-105 degree angle. I know that the camera is somewhat distorted and I think the camera even makes the whole structure look tilted. When I was at the park for the three last days you could tell that the track was around a 80 degree angle and that the supports above the 80 degree track were going to hold track at a 90 degree angle from the ground. The track that is on the structure now is at a 90 degree angle but just like before there is a support that will clearly hold track a about 105 to a 110 degree angle from the ground. It will be upside-down. (inverted)
it will be inverted

No.....it wont.

How do you know that this "support" will hold an inverted piece of track? Perhaps an over-banked turn.

This has already been disscussed in another topic! It will not "Go up-side down"

"...That is what an unbelieving world, simply finds unbelievable!" - DC Talk

It won't even hold an overbanked turn, it will hold the track for the top hat. You don't know for sure that the track will connect to the end of that support. I think it will connect to the side of the support, allowing the track to move in towards the center of the tower to complete the top hat.

I know it wont support an overbanked turn, I was just saying that to not sound as mean lol.

You know, I had a legitimate statment to make about why the tophat will not be an inversion, but I've given up. It's impossible to reason with some of you folks. Stop making your wishes "facts" and "rumors."

*We're getting screwed in the rear two coasters in a row.

Here... This should settle it. When you look at Xcelerator from the side, it pulls away from the towers. This is an okay pick. I would say the offset from the tower is about 8 feet.
