Had my trip planned for May 22,23 traveling 8hrs from Tennesse. With the forecast being scattered t-storms 40% chance of rain on Sunday and scattered showers and 50% on Monday (per weather.com). Accuweather.com has that Sunday forecast at 79 degrees, partly sunny with a 35% chance of a couple of thunderstorms in the evening. On Monday it has a high of 83 with a 60% chance of thunderstorms so I really don't know which forecast to believe. Would anyone suggest I postpone my trip...maybe to possibly Memorial day weekend? I know the park will be more crowded because of the holiday but the weather does look a little more promising even though I know forecast for this area this early in the season dont seem that predictable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.
thanks,
Last weekend a lot of rides were down at various times. Folks here say it was a combo of cold (in the 40s), wet (a light drizzle), and wind (it was pretty windy) and opening weekend.
I'd hate to drive all the way from Tennessee like you are to find as many rides down as I did last Sunday. That said, the forecast sounds pretty warm and apparently warm and wet is much better than cold and wet.
It's a tough one! and u never ever know - it might turn out to be beautiful.
Ohio is definitely going to be in a favorable environment for rain for the next few days, which would explain such high probabilities for precip on the forecasts.
For what it's worth, the differences in forecasts come from the weather models terrible handle on the entire system currently affecting the US. The weather models are great at predicting what they have seen before, but when you get abnormal patterns like we've seen this year, all bets are off.
More than likely it will rain at some point during your planned trip. More than likely there will be periods where it is not raining. Is it worth a gamble? That's up to you.
