This Ride Has Great Theming!

i would rather have CP spend their money on rides instead of crappy theaming

So much to say, and so little space. First, I agree with Gemini - appauled was not the correct word to use. We all have opinions, and disagrements should be acknowledged politely. Too many posts come from mount high IMO.

CP is not a theme park (thank god), but I do think there is a place for limited theming (Fronteir land, Snoopy, and Dragaster). Balance is a good thing IMO.

Regarding Dragster themeing, I think it rocks, looks great, and fits the ride perfectly. Much better than Superman at MM (again IMO). Also, the added theming gives CP additional revenue opportunities from product sales - $25 million coasters need a good ROI, if you expect another one in 3 years (and I certainly hope we get another winner from CP).

Another candidate for post of the month by C0STER M0NSTER/Ash Caparros...too bad they are strikingly similar. This one could end in a tie!

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Sorry about Ash Caparros/COSTER MONSTER, he is my 13 year old brother and he has ADD. I’ll try to explain to him where and what to post. Please don’t give him the humiliating “post of the month”. This would most likely crush him. Anyway, on the themeing subject, I think they are doing well for there first “real” try at it. The themeing is not as important as the ride itself but it does add the the “fun” of the ride.

Well, their first real try since Disaster Transport (its theming was great at the time it opened, but not now).

------------------
Opening Day is just 18 days away!!!

With a ride this short, i think you absolutly need theming. And to those who say theming does nothing to a ride, just look at Disney World. Would halfe there "Thrill Rides" be worth a dran if they were just in the middle of a field? Of course not.
I think disaster transport was a mediocrity themed ride in its day, after it was just an open bobsled type. In my opinion CP never really “really tried” to theme disaster transport. I think they thought it was not THAT exciting when it was an open bobsled coaster. So, I think they thought they could throw it indoors and try to make it seem more exciting. (This is all pure skeptics). If you have facts otherwise, please post why they tried to theme disaster transport!

T0P THRILL DRAGSTER

It doesn't matter to me whether or not area's around CP are themed. However, CP is coming along very well with the dragster theme. I just looked at the CP website and everything looks great. Even from the PowerTower camera, it appears that the grandstands are ready to go. However, when I viewed the second camera, it must have been lunch time because there were two workers eating lunch right by the camera. It was kind of funny. Anyways, Dragster is looking excellent and it will be ready to go for opening day. No doubt about it.

raptor rider tell that to the people in the ahead or behind message born they think it is a crisis on whether are not TTD will open on may 4th one person even cancelled a trip from boston because he thought TTD would not be open!
yes this ride has good theming for its name, but, if it had a differnet name, would people give a darn about the theming? i dont think they would. when Millennium Force opened, i dont think there was ever a gripe about its theming. what is Millennium Force's theme? nothing, thats what. you know why? because it doesnt need a theme, its a great ride. This ride would be great with or without theming. and plus, while were on the topic of theme, we dont want Cedar Point to go the way of any Six Flags park and have a bunch of the same ride scattered throughout the country with the theme of superheros. c'mon, to ride every one of Six Flags rides you basically have to go to about 4 parks... Cedar Point does not need theme to be a great park, it will thrive with or without it, and ill accept the themeing. i just wont be lining up to get my picture taken in a dragster. i would rather stand in line to ride the ride...

This ride would be great without theming, i think someone's got a little creative while planning this coaster and went from there. i was excited to see it when i went last halloweekends let alone on the web cams waiting for the announcement, then i found out there was gonna be all this theme involved and wow! CP has out done themselves again. And yes the MFer has theming...it is the traditional Cedar Point World Class Coaster theming....Itself lol! thats what CP's rides have tho....theme is not needed to have a great coaster...But a great coaster with a theme is good also!

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

I was at nickleplate beach in Huron tonight and I could see them going through all the lights on the tower over and over again. It was pretty cool to see, if you live somewhere between sandusky and vermilion i recomend you going out to the beach at night with some binoculars and checking it out.

Just can't live in that negative way... Make way for the positive Day

I live in Vermilion and can drive out to Sherod(sp?) Park and see it from there on a clear day. I went out yesterday to see if I could make out a train, but I should have taken some binocs.

But about themeing, wasn't DT well done before Dave the robot broke and couldn't be repaired? I just figured once the person who explained the ride's theme to you broke there was no point in trying anymore.

I might be completely wrong, I always remember it being broken, I'm just a little too young to remember what it was like.

Sorry if this has been discussed before. Realmadrid311 when you saw the countdown lights on the tower, were they 3 across or 2 across.

brennan, did you happen to read one of my posts in the topic "Dragster plaza..."? i said the exact same thing. I say Cedar Point stays an AMUSEMENT park, not a THEME park. it just seems things would be better that way...

I agree there are to many THEME parks out there today.

------------------
Gas for drive to Cedar Point: $25
Ticket to Cedar Point: $43
Drink while in line for ride: $3
Travel 410 feet in the air: Priceless
