This is for Point Buzz

I would like to see a feature put into place on pointbuzz. I would like to be able to thumbs up or down on a post. Maybe a agree or not agree. Do you have any suggestions for the creators of pointbuzz?

This suggestion should probably go here (though I presume there's already a thread about it):

CoasterBuzz uses the same software for the forums and you can +1 posts there. I think that feature will make it to PointBuzz sooner or later, possibly in the next update.

There is also a mobile site for CB, I think CB is the test site for those features, so I hope it gets here soon. PB is not very mobile friendly.

Not very mobile friendly? Try not at all. The edit post box is horrible on Android 4.4.4 with the latest version of Chrome. :(

Maybe we already have something in the works. Didn't anyone notice the spray paint behind my iMac?

I've got it! You're replacing your iMac with a pair of wall-mounted Thunderbolt Displays and a new Mac Pro with a cavity built into the wall. It's so obvious, I mean, the spray paint gives it all away. That's where you're gonna drill.

Nicely played Walt.

Classic. Maybe we should add this to the New for 2015 thread?

I have to say that the one downside to the mobile views (and mobile usage in general) is that it's just killing our ad revenue. PointBuzz traffic varies a lot depending on what new attractions are rumored/in-progress/opening, but CoasterBuzz is relatively flat. The mobile users aren't generating much money these days.

And before someone comes up with some stupid comment about being greedy or some other ill-informed nonsense, keep in mind that the computers, cameras, software and hosting isn't free, to say nothing of what our time costs (Walt and I do this sort of thing for a living, after all). We love the parks and all, but we do have kids to feed and hopefully sent to college, and this hobby can't come at the expense of that.

Absolutely Jeff we all have bills to pay! Hell we all have families to buy CP tickets for lol! You do what you have to do to keep this site running efficiently, nothing in life is free! To keep sites alive you need traffic and to get traffic you need to keep everybody using, not just a select few!

That was my point... traffic isn't necessarily what keeps the lights on. I almost had to shut the place down in 2001 when I couldn't afford to handle the traffic. You can thank CoasterBuzz Club for that save.

I disable AdBlock Plus on this site so you and Walt can get paid. If you came out with a premium version of PointBuzz that was reasonably priced, I might bite. Or if you set up PayPal donations, I would give every once in a while. I know that servers and hosting aren't free, I design websites for clients.

Make a mobile website I give you five dolla :P

But I know it's been shot down before but Tapatalk is a pretty sweet aggregate for forums, almost like an RSS feed if you will. I use it on several other platforms, and it seems to work well. Maybe up for second glances? The app is free but has plenty of ads that I would believe go to the site, or at least get a share of, etc.

But seriously..I along with others here would probably help pay if you needed help keeping things moving Jeff. A few bucks out of my pocket to help keep things running here really isn't an issue. It's a site I've grown up with for years and come to enjoy with most of the people on here.

Not sure how difficult it would be but maybe instead of a mobile site create an app ans sell it on the App Store or google play or whatever for like 99 cents or whatever is most reasonable. I would pay for it.

^ ditto.

I own a website (forum) with considerably more traffic, more advertising inventory and more users/pageviews.

Tapatalk revenue wouldn't buy me a cup of coffee everyday.

I look forward to modernization of this forum, but I full understand all the time/effort/expense that it takes to make it happen.

I am just happy for what we have.

I too would participate in a membership type program here. More than happy to pay my own way.

Jeff,
so is this your hobby or your full time job?

"and this hobby can't come at the expense of that."

We also had a hobby turn into a business. Maybe that's what you meant. As a business owner, I do know the expense of keeping up with the times. Maybe Thabto can help you.

LOL, Have a great day!

Part of the problem is that this is what we both do for a living. It's hard to find the energy to build a website after you spend all day building websites. That's before you throw in family and everything else life has to offer.

On the flip side, I think we both want a website that reflects our professional ability. And this current version is not it. So that's a motivating factor. I think we've showcased our 2007 skill level long enough. :)

I'm convinced there's a solution there. Just not sure what yet.
