Just FYI for anyone that cares, on my way to work today I noticed they raised the parking toll to $10. This change will begin this weekend.

So it now costs more to park the car than to get a junior or senior into the park. Rock on.

Makes the season parking pass even more appealing. Only takes 5 trips to pay for it.

I believe this is a normal thing for Halloweekends. I think 2003 or 2002 was the last time the price went up a dollar for parking.
They need to get that $21 million back some how. :)

Anything above $10 though...man, I really kinda question raising it. If they are still paying employees out of parking from several years ago...of course, this could be in response to the minimum wage increase.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Normal for HalloWeekends? I don't think so...
Seems to me that it's more likely that the lower addmission prices are hurting them a little more than they thought, and this is an easy way to help with that.

Can anybody else remember when the parking price when up around this time a couple seasons ago?

But, just because it went up 3 weeks before HalloWeekends, doesn't automatically connect parking price increases to it.
Here it happened in August:

Just another straw on the camel's back. Then they'll wonder why attendance is down (even more) next year.
Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

I knew we'd see this thread, but I didn't think we'd see it until tomorrow. :)
I used to complain about parking, but now I just look at it like the price of gas. It is what it is. Jeff and I had an interesting conversation about it last week. I don't like it anymore than the next guy, but it's not going to stop me from going to the park. That doesn't make it right and maybe that's part of the problem.
Unless the parking pass goes to $200, it's still going to be a deal for me. Everyone's different. I guess I've kind of gone to a non-opinion on the subject.

Yeah, I had heard the parking price was going to go up, but I figured it'd be next year.
$10 seems logical. Less change to deal with mostly. It's still a rip off. It still makes guests feel ripped off before they enter the gate.
I still like the idea of absorbing the parking into the price of the ticket, and giving the ticket a few dollar boost. You'd make more money in the long run doing that anyways. It'd also require fewer employees. Seems like a no-brainer to me, based on some of the things we've seen.

Lame.
I guess I'm not surprised. But Cedar Fair really needs to get a little more creative in the way they take people's money. Bending them over like this when they first drive up is only going to give people a negative feeling about the place before they even walk in.
I know there are some people in and around the company with some good creative ideas about how to make more money in less agrivating ways. But it seems like the old stubborn management these days can only raise prices and cut quality in order to make more money. What a bunch of stiffs.
