With Cedar Point's 17 coasters, how long do you think it will be before they start removing some of the older coasters? Now I know coasters such as Corkscrew are great with its record breaking history and senic corkscrews over the midway, but will it be worth it for CP to keep it going say in 20 years? Other rides such as DT or CCMR are great family coasters but they can be replaced with other great family coasters. And dare I say Maggie? Her 15 year anniversary just passed. what will another 20 years do to her? These are just a few of the rides to consider. I guess only time will tell...
Buddy Cedar Point only has 16 coasters. Rendevous Run doesnt count.

I can safely that CCMR and Corkscrew aren't moving anytime soon. Magnum won't be going anywhere for a long, long, time. DT is the only coaster whose time may be limited.

Yes. Also CP will not take out any coasters. They might rebuild some as they get older. Plus they can make landfills if they want a new coaster.

Oops finger slipped, 16. :-[
No ride can last forever. Sure I suppose they could rebuild the rides but would that really be the best choice for CP? I mean if your car get too old over time do you go back and get a new one of the same make and year? I know I wouldn't. It would just be dumb.
Keep in mind im not talking about things happening anytime soon. What i mean is like a 20+ year scale.

We still have a long time in which to ride all of CP's coasters. Take Blue Streak for example. It's OLD but still a good ride. Which is true for any coaster IF it's kept in good condition.
But you never know what could happen. ;) *** Edited 4/22/2005 11:57:21 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I live in Rochester NY and we have a park called seabreeze. They have a coaster called JackRabbit. It was built in 1920. Enough said. http://www.rcdb.com/ig227.htm

Believe it or not the wooden roller coasters have alot longer of lifetime than the steel. If Cedar Point was to get rid of anything to make more room, sacrificing a coaster would be the last thing to consider. I think if Cedar Point completly runs out of room for new attractions they will buy another property.(Hopefully in Florida)
Cedar Point could do what people did in Japan and put dirt in the lake and build up to above water level and expand the island. It would take a lot of work but it could happen.
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
......and, I think that the EPA frowns on that sort of thing around here. With the exception of highway construction. Dare I say, they'd at least be required to postpone filling until after spawning season. I could be wrong about that, as well. I suppose that money talks in this regard. Am I gonna need a fire suit for this one?

So they build an expansion to CedarPoint like 1000 miles away. Also filling in some of the lake would be great but the amount of money it would cost would stop a coaster from being built for a long time. They could do what disney dose and put the parking area somewhere else in sandusky and provide shuttles there and back. That would add tons of room.

Cedar Point somehow will find more room in its park for many years to come. When they do run out of land than Cedar Point will deal with it. Changing the Parking lot is one thing Cedar Point could do, also filling the lake with dirt and rocks to make the island bigger is also one thing they can do. Cedar Point can probaly find other ways to deal with this too.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!

How do you figure? There aren't any steel coasters to compare with the wooden ones built in the 1920's. Anything that is well taken care of will last forever. Blue Streak is 41 years old and is still going strong, CCMR is 36 and still running fine too.

I know its hard to take in, but CP isn't afraid of taking out a coaster. They've done it in the past with Jumbo Jet and many others.

Actually Jumbo Jet is now Disaster Transport I think. Also they took out coasters when they didn't want to have the most coasters in the world.

/\Is there something wrong with you Jumbo Jet is gone, Disaster Transport is a completely different ride.

CP doesn't care if they have the most coasters or not. It is just something the marketing team really enjoys to use. People on this board care a whole lot more about things like than anybody else.

Actually Disaster Transport was once Avalanche Run. I don't remember much about Avalache Run but I believe that Disaster is the same coaster, just indoors with theming.
Nothing lasts forever. It is interesting to consider what rides will last the shorest. Keep in mind I am talking super long term for most of these.
Transport is at the top of any list. Sure to be something else in due time.
Except for the fact it is huge, Mean Streak might not be around "long". (It is also on a ton of land... something else big could go there for sure).
Blue streak has reached a fork in the road. Either become a classic or make way for something else. I have a feeling it will be around for a while.
Mine Ride might be taken out for something, but the land it sits on isn't all that big. The ride fits both the land and into a needed place in the coaster scale.
Iron Dragon isn't a favorite, but Mantis and now Dragster surrond (and are sometimes over) it. Not much else (at least big enough to be a "big thing") could go there.
