The webcam page is gone!

The webcams have been removed from cedarpoint.com The www.cedarpoint.com/online-fun/webcams is gone and the link to the webcam page has been removed from the drop down menu. If you try to go to the webcam page it redirects you to their front page.

Edit: I had said the webcams themselves were working, but they've frozen.

I'm I the only one that is not surprised about the webcams being turned off for testing? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this SOP for new attractions at the Point.

Then again, just gives a new topic for the people with no lives refreshing the web cams every 5 seconds to gripe about.

Why do I have the feeling that Tony was watching this site in anticipation of the discovery? ;-)

+1 Tony! :-)

This is going to be fun to watch...

To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"

This just means we are REALLY close to testing!!! I was waiting for this :)

Could this be a sign that one of the webcams is going to be at pet check?

Or is Scooby Doo replacing the Peanuts gang as the mascot of Cedar Point?

Or did Tony's dog hack his pointbuzz account?

Ooooh, the anticipation!

Many of us remember this, but for those who were in elementary school in 2007, this happened with Maverick too.

Based on Tony's reaction, I think it's safe to assume it was intentional. Probably to do with this:

http://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/I-Need-Your-Help

But if it happened with Maverick too (I had forgotten that), then I'd say it's no coincidence it happened just as it appears as though testing was about to begin.

maybe they wanted it to be offical when they released the footage

pyrocoasterkid I doubt that they would completely remove the webcams from the sight if they were simply moving them. In the past the particular cam that was being moved was taken off of the webcam page.

They are simply moving them. READ THE BLOG!

And taking them down or turning them off just so the public (who will be riding it in a month) can't see an empty train running on the track, serves what purpose ?? Is testing really that big of a secret ? Perhaps it falls (for reasons I just can't seem to grasp) under the category of "top secret, vital info" that dare not be leaked.

Does it matter? The park apparently has determined that it's in their best interest to turn the cams off during testing. That you don't understand their reasoning is irrelevant.

I agree it seems silly to turn the cams off during testing, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Even if the only reason is to torment the handful of enthusiasts who spend all day watching them, so be it.

It's not like it's a new policy. The webcams facing the new ride have gone dark around this time of year for as far back as Wicked Twister. Probably did for Millennium too.

I dont think they had web cams on Millennium Force back during construction in 1999-2000. We relied on Monty Jasper's construction updates and pics posted here.

DJ, you know you're not suppose to quote the previous post :)

And yes it matters AND is totally relevant .. I want to see the damn testing ! That's all that should really matter......

No, actually, I could care or less. Like I said, I'll be riding it in a month anyway. The fact that the webcams are down at all is what's irrelevant.
