The train is off the lift

My mom told me on the news tonight they reported that the train is now off the lift.  I am not sure what station she was watching or how they got it off.

I’m wondering how they got it off the lift. It would be pretty hard for them to push it over, and there isn’t much room directly under the lift for a vehicle to pull it over. I’m thinking that they probably got the lift working again.

I also hate it when they don't race Mean Streak!

It looked on Monday (robodud and kicks the sky can attest) that slowly it made its way up the hill until the back 2 cars were the only ones not cresting, or not by the stairs yet. A couple of more feet and it looked like t would fall over.

They probably used a wench or cable of some sort to get it to that point, then they could have pushed it over the final few feet.

I still belive that there is a good chance the ride will be running tomorrow... notice I said running.. they may not allow people to ride but I bet it will be testing.

If the cable was back on Monday and the lift sled(catchwagon) wasn't in very bad shape, it could have very well been the cable lift system that pull it over.

According to the story on the news the new cable has not been placed on the lift yet.

I'm curious as to how long it took the train the complete the ride.

Yes, the return cable was already on the flywheel around 6 on Monday.
Andrew, I thought the same.  I think I read it over at coasterbuzz.com.  I think the person said that it was looking much more apparent.

I'm thinking good thoughts about Friday.....still bummed out about Thursday, though...but I'll be there....
What if you cancelled your MM tickets, such as I did, a few weeks ago, wouldn't be able to make it, would they still give me a pass??? I'm being honest here, I have to go down to West Virginia...

I was at cedar point today to drop off a friend and yes indeed the train is off the lift. However, I do not know how they got it or when they will be running the ride again. I did however see a couple of maintence men straddled across the track near the station. Well that is all i know for now.

Good Luck Dan in your 2000th ride, I wish I could be working on that day!

Yes, they threw the train over the top yesterday. No, it probably won't be open for Friday.

Did it make the circuit or did it rollback due to the slow speed and lack of weight?
I talked to a few people about it last night... They used a wrench(a thing that you move back and forth that slowly pulls it over) type thing to get it over... The cable is fully on(both of them)... There was some small damage done to the I-beams that the sled runs on but it was just some small scratches. They are still shooting for Saturday(Tomorrow). As for the train... it made it around fine and is sitting in the brake run.

I think you mean a winch. The thing I could best compare it to is probably the straps that people use to secure things on truck beds. The strap is wound and advanced by a ratcheting lever that winds the strap in one direction. On The Force, presumably you put one on both ends of the train so one takes over when you get it over the hump.

Always wondered how you let it go. :)

I knew it was something like that... The only thing I could think of is that they used two straps or they got it up to the top and push it over(I guess I will have to ask tomorrow). Maybe someone else can think of a differnet way...

I'm also thinking they could just push it over for the final few inches. Once the front and back are over the crest almost an equal amount (the back still a little lower than the front), the weight would cancel out. So it may just be like pushing a truck up a small grade. Because of the wheels I bet there is little friction in the way so it may be even easier than that.
Nothing that a guy named Imagnus could not handle. (Someone named Imagnus wins the worlds strongest man competition every year.) They should go to CP and have a train pushing competition.

I find it hard to believe that a Millennium Force train weighs 28 (?) tons and a Magnum train weighs 2,300 pounds, which is just over 1 ton.  I know there isn't all that much to the Magnum trains, but what makes the MF trains weigh SO MUCH more?

For one, MF's lead car is made from stainless steel and the car itself weighs almost as much as an entire Magnum train. MF's wheels are a bit bigger and heavier. MF ahs nine cars, Magnum six. Probably more factors
