Its about ten at night some Friday night and it was yet another open to close shift for Sabrina. I was exhausted and not quite looking forward to working another O/C on Saturday. I'm working B-side platform and I notice that a huge family just got off of the train and their milling around the middle car. They aren't telling me what's going on, I'm a little agitated at this point and just asked them what they dropped. There's a girl who looks to be in her early twenties, and might be considered attractive except she's crying hysterically, and she's missing her tooth. It turns out that she's a model, but when she was little she was in a car accident and lost some of her teeth. Apparently no one knew that she even had fake teeth, and she's really self conscious about it. Being the incredibility nice person that I am I decided that I would grab our dimming flashlight, a hard hat, and see if I can find the tooth. Its ten o'clock at night, I've been there since nine-thirty in the morning and I'm looking for a tooth under a ride that consists of seven acres of sand and rock...you can see my frustration.
I search for forty-five minuets, which I think is completely considerate seeings how this is a complete lost cause. Some people were already questioning my sanity at this point. But I call in from under the ride to tell them that I've given up, only to end up talking to my supervisor. He tells me that I have to tell the hysterical girl that I could not find her tooth, and I have to be the one to tell her that it probably won't ever be found. This isn't easy, its like telling someone that you killed their new puppy. I told him that I couldn't do it, and I asked him to do it...but he wouldn't. Frustrated, I say FINE (which anyone who talks, or understands, "woman" you know what that really means) slam the phone down and walk back to the station house. On the way back to the station house I discovered that the girl did something incredibly stupid that could have really been bad. I'm not going to say what it was, but it still scares me. I was shaking, and all for having her arrested, but my supervisor was too nice. He promised that he'd send someone out the next day.
Saturday rolls around and we send two people out to look for the tooth. I'm too keyed up over the whole deal, so I decline the offer to look for the needle in a 23 year old hay stack. Least to say, they did not find the tooth. Big Bob Wozniak comes around and I tell him the story. He laughs about it, but repeats the line "not responsible for any loss or damage." Well the girl came around later that morning, and we told her that it was impossible. Her mom was very angry about this, so angry that she raised a big stink in Park Ops. The stink was so big that later on that day, Big Bob and the mean old supervisor were seen combing the ride for the lost tooth.
The moral of my story, my friends, is that...
"Cedar Point is not responsible for any loss or damage that might occur while riding this, or any ride in the park."

"As far as I can tell it doesn't matter who you are. If you can believe, there's something worth fighting for..." - Garbage, "Parade"
What amazes me is that the Mom would complain to park-ops about this. There was a reasonable attempt made to find the missing tooth. I lost my car keys on Magnum a couple of years ago. An employee made a sweep of the areas but didn’t find them. I didn’t throw a fit – these things happen.
