The sprint to Top Thrill Dragster

Hey guys. This is my first time posting since Millenium Force was all we would talk about on these boards 2 years ago. I went to Cedar Point two years ago and we sprinted to MF from the Marina Entrance. So I was wondering which entrance should I go to if i want to be able to get the first ride of the day in on Top Thrill Dragster. Me and my friends are going up this summer and were from Boston so we need to get as many runs on Top Thrill Dragster as possible. So which entrance do you think is closest?

Hotel/Soak City Entrance is right near the start of the queue lines.

NYC Subways, The next best thing to riding roller coasters.

yeah thats what i thought. But how far would u guess it is? I'm kind of hoping its far because me and my friends are 17 and we will be able to outrun the rest of the 'older' people for sure.

It's really close. It comes in right under Perimeter Road and then you have a short walk to the Midway. The entrance is nearby.

Cedar Point 2003, where no roller coaster rider has gone before

Which other ride entrance is closest to Top Thrill Dragster to give me an idea of the distance?

Look at a map of the park. You can get it on www.cedarpoint.com but I don't feel like looking right now. Too tired.

Yeah I am looking at the park map now but it is not an updated one so it doesnt show Dragster yet thats why Id like to know which existing ride the entrance for Dragster is closest to.

Right around where Troika and Chaos were last season... across the midway from Magnum's entrance..

I shall be sprinting for Millie, not Dragster, why? Because the line will most likely be shorter, I will ride Dragster later on.

The queue cant be more then 100 yards from the Maggie Gate. Knowing that 75 percent of the peeps will be at the main gate a half a mile away I don't see a problem.

I really don't see a problem for myself thanks to Joe Cool.

TJohnson, you think that the lines for MF will be longer during the day than those of Dragster? I hope to be able to get 2 quick rides on Dragster by sprinting there and getting on and off before the crowds can get there, then head over to MF. Whats eveyrbody else planning on hitting and when?

No I hope to get a few rides in on MF before anyone else arrives there.

Do They Open EVERY Gate At The Same Time? I Always Thought The Main Gate Opened First To Let The Masses In. And Then The Others Were Opened Shortly Thereafter.
They try their best to open them at the same time...

All gates are opened at the same time.
If you stay at one of the one point hotels you get in an hour early to ride certain coasters. Thats how its been for the last 2 years i've gone at least. After that its open to everyone.
Ozz, being from Boston as well, I can understand the need for getting the biggest bang for the buck. The Breakers is clearly the place to stay, since it is about 100 yards from the side of the hotel, through the soak city entrance to Dragsters. We stayed there October last year, great location and minimum lines. The pass system CP has rocks as well, guarenteeing an extra ride with minimum wait. I hope to get out there in May before school gets out and in October. Getting very psyched..

I have it on good authority that for May 4th only, the Soak City entrance will be reserved for Season Pass holders only and will open at least one hour prior to all other gates. All guests entering with daily ticket admissions will be required to enter thru the main gate. Also, CP has a new rule regarding running on the Midway. All persons on the concrete or blacktop portions of the Midways must proceed in a manner such that they ALWAYS have at least one foot on the ground making contact with at least 50% of the shoe sole surface area. Persons disregarding the 50% rule will be required to remain stationary for a period of 5 minutes. Any person who travels along any Midway in a manner such that both feet are in the air at the same time will be subject to immediate ejection from the park, unless, of course, they can produce a valid Season Pass. *wink wink*
Cool - Soak City here we come. ;)
