The ride op red zone

"Welco.... 200.... sevent..... our.... udden sto...." was not audible on Monday evening, either.

Guests do really stupid things; it's one of those things that can make your day really terrible.

We get through it, though.

This is a little off topic, but I thought it fit in with the "why are they doing this" trend... Today I observed what I believe to be the most bizarre operations change yet. On Wave Swinger, the ride operator is now required to rebuckle all of the seat belts on the ride, after the previous ride is over, before letting any guests onto the ride. What is the point in this? The ride operator has to go around and check all the restraints anyways, why can't he/she just buckle any empty seats then? Simply makes no sense to me.

WTF? That's ascenine.

Could this just be a confused op? Has anyone else seen this?

Why buckle the empty seats at all? I mean unless they are afraid the seat belts could be so worn and tattered that they just might fall off and go hurling into a passer-by at deadly Wave-swinger speed.

I saw 3 different operators doing the same thing throughout the day. I asked the one when I rode, why they had changed it, and she said that she had no idea, and that's just what she was suppose to do.

It winds up taking a long time, because they have to wait for the platform to be empty, then rebuckle all the seatbelts and latch the exit gates, then let guests on, then wait for all guests to be seated before making an announcement, then checking all seatbelts, before any ride is actually given. It probably took a good 6-8 minutes between rides! It just seemed like there were many things that could be done in a simplified manner, while still doing them, to keep the line moving a bit.

Lemme get this right...

The ops have to wait for all the current passengers to exit the platform to buckle all the belts in every seat, so that all the new passengers can get on to unbuckle and rebuckle them again...only for the ops to come around and check to make sure everyone is buckled in. Do they have to rebuckle the already rebuckled seatbelts if there are empty seats?

This is crazy.

Yes, that's correct.

No, just check them as they normally would.

Not really on topic but I figured that I would ask this question really quick hoping for quick answer. Does anyone know roughly the date that Ohio schools, and high schools get out?

Most get out sometime during the week of June 5.

I wonder if that insanity explains why Wave Swinger was closed today...
