The Money Could Have Been Better Spent!

Let's see, $ 9 million for Wicked Twister or $ 25 million for Millinium Force.  Cedar Point is getting ripped off for there $ 9 million, don't get me wrong Wicked Twister will be awesome (now I don't have to go to that dump SFWOA Six Flags Waste Of An Afternoon).  It just seems like Cedar Point could have gotten alot more for the $ 9 million dollars.

However, this is a major improvement for the Oceana Midway which was much needed!

I plan on being there opening day in May breaking in the new ride to make sure it is safe for the General Public to ride, I mean I wouldn't want some young novice rider getting injured for some stupid reason!

The colors sound awesome!

The $9 million could of been better spent but they did a good job with it. I know I will be there opening day and be the first person on it, or one of the first.
It's easy to second-guess how the park is spending their money, but surely they have a better feel for this than we do.  This ride gives them something they definitely needed (a launched coaster) without eating up a significant chunk of land OR being an immense investment (relative to other coasters)

I'm sure some of that money is to pay the trades workers who are involved in all aspects of the construction and landscaping. It would make sense that the cost of building a coaster such as this would be more expensive than it would have been 2 years ago.

Quite honestly, CP hasn't put in anything major since Magnum for under $9 million.  Let's face it, things like Magnum aren't availible for that type of money anymore.  It it were built today, it would probably be $15-20 million.  This $9 million has allowed CP to draw much needed attention to the Oceana midway, get a relatively cheap entry into the launched category, and one-up the competition.  I don't think they've wasted money at all.  Although its not as big an addition as MF (keep in mind that was $25 million), it will be a nice addition to the park and will look real good over on the beach.

But you could get 2 world class CCI's for 9 million ;)

I think twsister is a great addition to the coasters already at the park and it doesn't take up much space.

Maybe it cost a little more because special construction/design concerns had to be address due to it being so close to the water?? I for one loved SFWOA Impulse. I can't wait to ride this bigger and maybe better version.
Well... one and a half. It also depends on how big it is.

Timbers cost 4.5M three years ago. Legend cost 3M, but CP's terrain more resembles Michigan's Adventure. Ghostrider was somewhere near 20M, but that was due to unusual circumstances.

This is what it says on CF's website:
"Richard L. Kinzel, president and chief executive officer, reported that the centerpiece of Cedar Point's 2002 capital program will be the world's tallest and fastest "double impulse" roller coaster. "This new thrill ride, named Wicked Twister, will be Cedar Point's 15th roller coaster, and it will be the eighth world-record-breaking ride the park has introduced since 1989," said Kinzel"

What is "double impulse" suppose to mean?  Twisted on both spikes?  This is misleading!!

Welcome back Raptor riders, how was your flight?!

Timbers only cost so much because of its size, Something like Cornball express but bigger is what I would be thinking about.  That would run about 4.5 right now.
How could if have been better spent? The actual ride isn't that much but you have 2 of them. What coaster would you have rather seen? Its obvious Cedar Point always goes for a coast they don't have before they dupilcate. It took 11 years for them to get a big steel sitdown coaster. If you want a woodie, Cedar Point has 2. Whether they are good or not is a matter of opinion but they have 2 so why build another? They go for diversity.

Hypersonic XLC only cost about 8 million...

My origianl post was not serious.  Another woddie would be good however as most of the GP won't even ride Mean Streak anymore.

I say if they would of taken that 9 million.. invited everyone to a party...have one huge bon fire at the site of  Mean Streak...(using Mean Streaks wood) we would have about the same pile of rubble that CP just built with this new coaster.  Im sorry people..but I know CP wouldnt have gone for much on the record department this year..but I was hoping for some Originality.  I couldnt have been any more disapointed. IMO  Then again...I guess it could of ended up being a Boomerang (or are these the new boomerangs? every park seems to be getting one)...maybe I shouldnt put all my eggs in one basket too soon huh?

SO should we assume Darla that there will be one less person in line this summer???

So be it.. shorter lines for the rest of us.

I find it pretty funny that all these people think they would have done better. Well if you could.. Get to school.. and work your way into Mr. Kinzel's office chair.

I for one, an happy with it..

With the low capacity of this ride...I dont think one less person will even be noticeable. LOL  And being I basically rode this ride all last year...I guess the answer to your question would be a big yes.  As far as people saying they could do best...Never said I could do better...I said CP could of done better.  As far as Kinzel job goes..thats easy..just hire someone from Six Flags. LOL  The way it looks all Six Flags coasters will end up in some sort of fashion at Cedar Point sooner or later. LOL

Im not putting those down that like the ride..thats great...for you....Im just not happy with it..and like everyone else..sliding my input in.  Not everyone is going to like every coaster or every ride put in the park.

it would be kewl to have water fountains shooting up the spike and getting shorter as the train goes down 2 make it look like ur gonna get wet, and then spray u a bit when u hit the bottom...

My gosh every coaster was made somewhere else first. SF has a billion parks I should hope they should have different coaster sbut oh wait they don't and they can't even come up with original names.  How many vipers, medusas, and shockwaves can ya have?

And if you ask me the Impulse at CP is one less reason to travel the extra hour it would take me to get to WOA.

It's industrial espionage, see what someone else has, and then doing it better then the other guy so nobody wants the other guys product, simple as that.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

Odds are, tohot2se,you will be the first in line to ride it.That's usually how it goes. What I dont get is, the impulse coasters are on ALOT of peoples Top 5/10 coaster lists, and also a hit with the GP. But as soon as CP gets one that's more advance, now the ride sucks/dissapointing. Can someone explain that to me? Also, people have been complaining for several years now that, CP doesnt have a launch coaster. When they do get one, they complain. Can someone explain that to me?
I have always said they needed a LIM launch..and that part is cool...but one that dont look basically Identical to one that is down the street, and one that I have rode all last year.. is what I am not happy about... that was always the bummer about going to Six Flags parks around the country..you were running into the same few coasters at each park and now that CP threw in one that I have been riding is what bums me out...I was hoping CP would of come up with a different type of Lim...Cp has always been great on coming up with different rides more original...and this year was not a happy one for me.  But alas...this coaster is just a fill in (IMO) untill next years coaster...from what I heard will not have so much controversy as this years did.
