**Since I value my life, and SpartyJeff's threated to run me over with his tricked out SUV unless I write a TR (well, not really, but I wouldn't want to find out otherwise) here it be, on the epic Fri/Sat/Sun trip this past weekend. Warning: My TR's are not reports...but stories (Mantomatic and Pete, back me up!). If you're looking for just plain ole technical info or a short TR...look elsewhere. They're not for everyone, but you'll hear stuff in my TR's you just won't hear in any other....**
Back when I was a little Po!nter, my dad and I ruled the park on our trips. I was lucky enough to have a dad who's an adrenaline junkie and would get into riding as much as the most die-hard coaster lover. We'd do the park, but always knew our hearts were back at Magnum, where we'd end up for countless crazy night rides. Little Po!nters soon become grown-up Po!nters, and as I did, I spent less time with my dad and more with enablers like you guys. After I was invited by Jeffrey and his family to stay with them at Lighthouse Point this weekend, I asked my dad if he'd like to come hit the park with me at night. He said yes...and the fun began.
Curious thing..if you're hopelessly late for something, and you're with a group, there's a good chance they will stay quiet until you arrive at the destination, whereupon they will find every reason to hold up the train. We had planned to be at the park at 4, and after a late start (and no Starbucks for cranky Anne and her mom) we arrive late..and my mom decides now is the time to basically overhaul the car, ask a million questions about the weekend and otherwise keep me from running into the park. Pulling out of her clutches, I ran into the park with my dad; it's tradition to start the year on Magnum, of course. I remember being fourteen, life was at its best when I was riding it with my dad; my world began and ended up on that platform :-) As always, it was the perfect way to start the season with him...
I had to get dad over to Force right away...well, truthfully, I had to get myself over there right away...because he's barely been on the darned thing and needs more rides to get an opinion on it. He's like me...Magnum was always number one no matter what...and I wondered if he'd stay the same after Force enough times. Besides, I had to have my fix of spazzing out over the station announcement and blathering random bits from the promo video. I'm waiting for someone to wring my neck as I start into "doo doo doo doo doo doo doo dooo...welcome...to Millennium Force...." for the nine-billionth time when I hit the station. Typing this made me want to see the video again. Dang you all.
(Much like the station announcement, I'm equally as obsessed with the laser show. Don't ask why, just am...gravity knows no force....)
