The Grandstands...

i think that the grandstands are an AWESOME idea. im not sure though, will the people in the grandstands be able to see you JUST BEFORE you launch? id like to stop and just look at some of the expressions on people's faces...

I think the distance between the grandstands and the launch is about 50 ft. So I think it´s possible to look at the riders´ expressions!! Also it´s a great place to eat your lunch, looking over this massive beast!!
I really like the grandstands idea. I can't wait to watch a train get launched (of course I’m going to ride it first).

The only problem I see with the grandstands people eating on them is that people are stupid. And they are gonna just leave them trashed.

TTD Merchandise - 2003

The grandstands will be the ultimate place to sit down and rest. It will be much more exciting than sitting down in one of the regular park benches. I bet the grandstands will be nearly empty most of the time.
I'm sure there will be trashcans all around there......I can't wait for my mom (who never will ride a ride) to sit in the grandstands and actually be able to videotape us with zoom and our expressions.....right as we launch......I mean onride photos are cool but video taping the expression on our faces before we get launched 120 ft.....laughs forever !
Yeah I know there will be tons of trash cans but there are all those lazy people that think that the employees so job is to clean up after themselves then though they walk right past like 10 garabage cans.

I hate it when people do that, i mean just how lazy can you get to not walk the whole 5 feet to the garbadge can. Anyways, i think that the grandstands are going to be amazing! I can't think of anyother roller coaster where you can watch people freak-out like you will be able to with TTD! Great idea, by a great park.

Will be a nice spot to get photos/video from.

Cedar Point is prepared for the grandstands. It's no coincedence that people are pigs about eating and other stuff. [one of my HS teachers came up with an animal theory that is actually true to real life] The grandstands are going to require more attention just like any other area where people likely to drop their trash.

I think this roller coaster will be very interesting to watch from the grand stands. I really want to watch the motor unit in action, it IS one of the most powerful mechanical devices created.

I think the ground beneath the grandstands will be the messiest place. Just because there are trash cans around does not mean the people will actually stand up, walk down the bleachers, go to the trash can, then go back to there seat. It's much easier to just drop it under your seat and let it hit the ground. I hope this is proven to be false, but every place I go that has bleachers, there is always crap underneath them.

and remember, if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter

Sometimes that's accidental though... Yes, people in general are lazy slobs, but just as often they are clumsy. I wouldn't put it past myself to be happily devouring food and accidentally drop it and get sad :( The good news is, maybe there will be cool stuff under there too that people dropped, lol

It's so nice to live less than 200 miles from the greatest amusement park in the world!!

The Coaster Kid, California Screamin' at DCA alows you to see the expression of people as they launch, i always loved that.

As for the grandstands, wouldn't the consession stand take a lot of room under the bleachers? I haven't been to an actual racetrack (or anywhere else for that matter) that features this so I'm not sure.

If you think that those grandstands will be messy, look at this list.

The sweeps are responsible for keeping Cedar Point clean. The grandstands are in area 3. Cedar Point is dedicated to keeping their park clean. Trust me, the grandstands WILL be clean.

a question, SteelMonsters...where would zone 5 happen to be???

If I told you I don't know, would you laugh at me? I seriously don't.
im pretty sure i wouldnt laugh at you, ok, we have one failure, lets see if someone else can answer my question...

WHERE IS ZONE 5?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

If I had to take a guess, it would be accomodations.

Parking/Admissions is Zone 6, and Sweeps wouldn't be needed in Accomodations

Thanks for the info. RCFreak, i wasn't aware that you could see the train like that on California Screamin' (never been there to see it). The only other thing i'm worried about with the grandstands other than the trash, is that it may be just a little too close to the track, i mean it will be going at break neck speeds. Hahahaha. I know that wasn't funny.
