THE FORCE ISN'T GOING 92 MPH!

Jeff, I am not complaining about thew first hill, it's when the train goes by the station where I can tell a difference. Just standing in line I could tell you it was going slower on the return from the Island. Now, maybe I should have worded the topic of this thread a little better, sorry about that. But if you watched the train when it went past the station, you COULD see that it wasn't going as fast as usual.

Another thing about the guide wheels. Last year's road wheels had flanges on both sides, so they were almost self guiding. If someone notices more shuffle this year, it could be because the road wheels now used have no flanges. These are like the original MF wheels. I think the flanged wheels were used to increase the contact patch with the track to solve some heat problems.

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

And the last time you saw it was? Odds are you are just remembering the experence/sights wrong.

RIDE IT OUT!

It was going slower through the course, I timed the trains myslef (see above). Still, this was in the morning and it looked to be moving a bit faster later in the day. Last year though it would move pretty good early in the day.

I'm not too worried though, Monty and the crew will have it figured out and running good. :)

I took two rides on MF - one at about 10:30 AM and the other right before close. I have to say that the second one FELT much better than the first. Could have been my seat (5.1 for the second one - don't remember for the first) I guess, but maybe it was starting to warm up a little. As for the trains flying by the queue, the lack of noise from the different wheels makes the ride seem to not be going as fast I think. With the nylon wheels, you can hear that high pitched humming coming toward you as the train comes out of the tunnel and then it gets real loud as it goes by. I miss that with the different wheels. Perhaps these are the "cold weather" wheels or something. I didn't take any timings but Joe E should know! :) (of course he shouldn't know because he should be riding Magnum instead! :) Wait, I hardly rode Magnum yesterday because all the bars were broken and it was getting on my nerves!)

I know it was definately going slower in that last overbanked turn. At first I thought it was just the lack of noise that made it seem like it was slower, but after watching it a while and riding it, it was definately going slow. It looked a little faster in the evening, but it was still lacking. I hope they bring back the other wheels because I love the roar of the trains going by the line.

Also, does anyone know what happened to yellow, of if the logos on the front of the trains will be back?

No, he probably wasn't remembering it wrong, because most of the enthusiasts I spoke to on Sunday said the same thing.

Early morning rides are always slow on MF. I was on the 2nd train out (1st run for that train) and it was really slow. We're not supposed to slide to the right during the last overbank, are we?? :) However, five minutes later the very same train picked up a few seconds over the course. It's been that way since day one. I'm not too worried about a slower MF on opening day. With almost a week off before the next operating day, I would condsider 5/5 more of an dry run day for operations and maintenance more than anything else. See the thread about Magnum's problems.
