The fine hard working people of Sandusky Ohio!

Boredom at College and the off season blues(well I shouldn't really talk I was at BGT a week ago) but I figured I'd post and let everyone know Tommy Boy is on USA.

Well its over now.

Anyway does that movie give a true interpretation of Sandusky?

Any of you ever been cow tipping?

It is unsatisfying when they show the carnival... why not the real rides of the town?

Two random observations from MovieMistakes.com...

"There's a part of the movie when Richard and Tommy are walking down a street in Sandusky, OH and you can see a Toronto Dominion Bank sign (green)on one of the buildings. This was an oversight as the movie was filmed somewhere in Ontario. A small town like Sandusky would never have a branch of a big Canadian bank."

"They talk about how the brake pad factory is the only thing keeping the city (Sandusky, Ohio) alive. I guess they forgot about Cedar Point, one of the most popular theme parks in the world."

The entire movie was shot in Ontario Canada with the exception of one scene shot at El Mirage Dry Lake in California..

I am not a fan of Sandusky, Oh. Granted there are some really neat things like Put-Inn Bay ect; its a miserable place in the off season like so many other small midwestern industrial towns. I will leave it at that.
Yeah but you have to love the nod at Prehistoric Forest. I think i'm one of few who caught that.

Has anyone here ever actually been to Prehistoric Forest?

If you want to see a movie filmed in Cedar Point and Sandusky, rent Edge of Seventeen. It's good, but I'm warning you should be a libral-minded person.

I've been to Prehistoric Forest and the Mystery Hill next to it. Prehistoric Forest has a bunch of cheesy, plastic dinosours that you view while walking through the property. Mystery Hill is just as bad, a bunch of cheesy stunts to make you think the Hill has some strange "powers". Both attractions are better after about 5 beers.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Well, there's a movie out about my hometown (Defiance, Ohio) titled House Arrest, that was shot mostly in Cleveland and it looks nothing like Defiance.

Sandusky is an OK town, but most of the jobs are not of the best pay. It used to be a big football town and the Blue Streaks field pretty good basketball boys teams. They knocked Ashland off last season and probably play the Arrows in the sectional championship game this season.
Cedar Point sort of dominates the town and will probably dominate it even more as the years go by.

I have been to both Prehistoric Forest and Mystery Hill. Both are fun IF you have the right attitude. I spent a lot of time at my late aunt's cabin in nearby Lakeside. It is a nice area.
I haven't been to Prehistoric Forest since 1989 when the still had trams go through the forest and they offered toy guns to shoot at the dinosaurs. I heard they were supposed to improve the dinosaurs since then.

Yes, part of the movie was filmed here in Sandusky. There is an old factory you see often in the movie that's just a few minutes from my house here, and the Sandusky City Schools bus is visible throughout. While it's true the whole movie wasn't filmed here, there are many recognizable landmarks if you watch closely.
I will have to get the movie even though my taste is oriented towards good armegeddon movies like "DR Strangelove", and "By Dawns Early Light". Nothing like a mushroom cloud to make your day!
.. Ohh but lets not forget the early 80's TV classics (and I know I'm dating myself here and most of these kids were watchign Sesame Street if they were even ALIVE then)
