The Disaster Transport building

I was just looking at my Blue Streak background and Disaster Transport is in the background.  What does 12 E mean?  To me it looks pretty odd....are they trying to make a (barely) space-themed ride look like an airport hangar?  Why not just paint the logo and paint the whole thing black?

I'm pretty sure that 12-E stands for Lake Erie...

Think:  What is the 12th letter of the alphabet?  L

...add that to the E and you get LE, or Lake Erie.

Steuks!!

wow, that's interesting!

I still think that a black building with the logo on the side would do a lot for ride publicity

It could stand for the 12th error in Cedar Point History.
I think that it should not be taken out, but it should be painted a different color. Warehouse beige is just plain ugly and is an eyesore. It would look neat black and if they installed some chaser/runway lights or something on it to go with the "theme."

I thought I read somewhere a while back that the main reason for enclosing the ride was to resolve the problems created when it rained...something about it taking a while forthe "trough" to dry out. So themeing wouldn't necessarily be the park's first priority.

Interesting. I always liked the (never verified) rumor that 12-E is Mr. Kinzel's shoe size.

i thought  12-E was the spaceport
but lake errie theory i think its good

I'm not sure I'd go for an all black building but the Disaster Transport building could certainly stand to be a little more prominent. If a newcomer can even figure out that it's a ride, they still have to figure out how to get in.

We had a discussion a while back. I thought up how 12=L and thought it meant Lake and how E meant Erie.

Some of us also thought it was some kind of hint. Like 12 years extended. Since next year it will be DT's 12 year, it would make some sense if they added something else in that area.

here's the old thread...

I somewhat discredited the 12 year theory thing, but I'd still love to see something new in that area to spruce it up.

OK, but who can tell me why C.P. didn't consider Avalanche Run to be a coaster until it was enclosed and given a new name? When 1990 came around, all of a sudden, it's considered to be a coaster. Despite the outer space theming, it's still the same ride.
Well the name DisPATCHMAaster Transport has kind of a hidden meaning

Kally had better get it right! After all, she does have a fancy DT shirt. Right? ;)

mikey

Raptor0137, why do you think that Cedar Point didn't consider it a coaster? I have the brocure from that year, and it say it's a new bobsled coaster...so what do you mean?

Doesn't the current logo only have Disaster Transport and no longer has the "patch m"?

-------------
everything's better with a banjo

The real logo for the ride never had the PATCH M, because there was an explosion that caused those letters to be removed. I think it was pretty clever how they originally worded it and had the loop going when they had all the theming.

Actually, The big ride sign they use to have did have all of the Dispatch Master Transport letters.  It could still be seen in the "explosion."

Why did they get rid of that sign anyway?

Yes Mikey, the fancy shirt does come in handy. ;)
