The crap that seasonals take

I can't believe that I am back here. I swore that I would never come back to CP, and now I remember why. If it weren't for the kickass internship that I have I wouldn't be here at all.

I was reading an artical about Worlds of Adventure's attempt to fire a foods employee for grooming violations when they mentioned his pay. He got $11 an hour to look over two food stands. Can you believe that our pay rates are still this horrible?
I'm sorry to tell you, but the only reason cedar point still attracts all these employees is because of reputation. It's the most highly acclaimed park, and for good reason, but that has nothing to do with the pay rates for all employees. The only advantage most employees find is the social life that comes along with work. Personally, I find the social life disgusting and immature. It's a bunch of people cramming into a bar trying to sleep with everyone. Just ask my ex-girlfriend, she fell for it. If people would conduct themselves even like partial adults, there wouldn't always be fights and people sleeping around. It's gross that people sink to that....... and I'm a guy saying this!!!!!!!! I can see having fun on the job, but when you're out of work, don't get a reputation for sleeping around. It's not cool like it was in high school.
I never participated in the social life at Cedar Point, the most I did was ride nights, movies, and going to the mall. True enough, the work stinks at times, and what you have to put up with -- I was actually disciplined (I think that's what it was, he lectured me for like 20 minutes) because I didn't seem happy enough, then asked if he could give me a hug! This the day after my fiance had returned to FL and I would not see him until Christmas (this was May '98).

Yes, we take a lot of crap, but there is a lot of good for the job too. I'll never forget the "insider" feeling you get because you know how to work the ride, or seeing the kids' faces after their *first* roller coaster (this is what you get working ID and DT). Crews get pretty close, and you don't have to participate in the night life in order to get to that. All jobs have their good and bad, and while I won't go back to work a full summer again, I'd like to work for a few weeks, and maybe I will again someday.
