^^ there are 2 cylinders holding the lap bar in place and 2 independent clips in the belt buckle. All 4 items would have to fail for you to fall out.

ahhhhhhhh. That makes perfect sense. Now I feel even more safe on MF. (Not that I didn't already!)

All the more reason to have just lap bars on Maverick. he he!! :)

As far as I'm concerned, having seat belts is perfectly fine. But, with all the air time that Magnum gives a rider, the restraints accomodate most people perfectly fine. The same with Blue Streak which also has lots of air. MF and Dragster seem to exclude a lot more people that any other design out there.

That's because Magnum's belt is being used for what it was intended for - a backup restraint. If the lap bar fails, there is still a belt.

On MF (and I think to a lesser degree TTD) the belt is being used as a measuring device for the primary restraint (lapbar). If the belt fits (with 2 inches or 1 inch of "slack") then the lapbar will fit "properly". The belt wasn't intended to be used as such.

I think that's what most people don't understand. Instead of addressing the real problem on MF, they changed the length of the seatbelt.

They could put in longer belts if they had some way of telling if the bars were down low enough.

Does anyone who is having problems getting on MF have any problems getting on any of the other rides such as Raptor, Mantis, SkyMax, Maxair and such???

I tend to have trouble with the over the shoulder restraint design that has a seat belt that connects to it. So, yes, I do have trouble with the rides above with the exception of Skyhawk. However, the only lap bar type rides that I can't ride are the Intamin designs.

Have you been on a B&M hyper? They actually have stripes on the lap bar that say if its low enough or not. If it doesn't go down enough, you don't ride. And, btw, their hypers don't have seatbelts at all.
