The Announcemnt You've been waiting for

I'll expand on my post over at CBuzz. Not only would I move the waterpark to the Sea World side...but I would also provide some kind of transportation system (not a boat) from one side to the other.

I think the space available over on the Sea World side would provide a great opportunity to build the Cedar Point of waterparks with Master Blasters, Wave Riders, etc.

To take it a step futher, they could build a nice "lodge" type of hotel with an indoor waterpark that would be available year round. I don't know if the zoning would permit it but I bet Aurora would prefer a hotel over there to a coaster.

In either case, I don't think this qualifies as the "Announcement You've Been Waiting For" but I do think it would significantly improve the park. It would also create space on the Geauga Lake side for expansion.

When I went to GL this past summer, it was the first time I had been there in years. But everything was so crammed together. It would be nice if they could 'spread' out the rides. Maybe relocate the mind eraser or whatever its called now. The park is just so crammed that you can ride everything in a matter of a couple hours and be done. I doubt that would happen but its just a thought.

Screamscape is saying construction will start around October 18. They say it's something "monumental" that will "leave the face of Geauga Lake forever changed." This is the kind of language that SFGAdv was using before they announced KK. I'm not saying its going to be anything on that level, but either its going to be something major, or a major letdown.

Yeah, I've begin to lose faith in ScreamScape. Does Geauga Lake have a Rasberry Chill Guy?

kylepark - with the exception of beaver land mine ride, the ride names could use another name change that showed at least a little effort in the creativity department

I wonder if Cedar Point is planning on adding Peanuts characters next year?

A thought I've had this summer was "if" they expand Happy Harbor by adding more childrens rides to help get rid of the SWO/SFWoA image they could rebrand the area "Snoopy's Rainbow Island." The name would merge the old GL kiddie section with CF's Snoopy image. Bringing back old memories, while creating new ones. Best of both worlds. Of course they have to bring some classic kiddie rides back like the motorcycles and cars that dont to anything but go in circles and have an annoying horn. :)

I personally think anyone hoping or thinking a coaster will be new in the park next season is preparing for a big letdown. "The announcment you've been waiting for.." is just a marketing ploy to get you're attention. Just be happy CF plans to build and expand the park not let it sit and rot and wonder why numbers are decreasing.

I highly doubt, or even say there will be no Snoopy or other Peanuts characters incorporated into Geauga Lake. However, there still a possiblity of another dog from way back when may appear again.

Oh my goodness. If the return of Geauga Dog is "The Announcement You've Been Waiting For" they will never let it down.

There is many ways you can use the south end of tthe park. From making it into a series of night clubs and entertainment venues which would not be bad. Though what I would rather see is somthing simular to what Kennywood and Knoebles have done. In the case of Kennywood they made lost Kennywood why not a tribute section at Geauga Lake to all the past amusement parks in and around the Cleveland area. This would include Euclid Beach park Luna Park, and I think one other. Idora could even be included. Who wouldn't wan to ride a replica of the Wild Cat or the Thriller, or even for that matter what was the longest continuis track coaster the Racer at Euclid Beach. The idea is the possibilities are endless, heck Geauga Lake could even contract a priviate company to run an animal exhibit or even give it to the Cleveland zoo to run. We simply don't know. But we will know somthing on November the 10th, that we know for certain.

Welcome brown train riders.

Looking in to my crystal ball i see the announcement clearly now. Geauga lake is draining the lake paving it over and building the worlds longest fastest tallest coaster in the world ;) j/k

I think they are going to get their own Donut Time.

What if I haven't been waiting for any announcement?

At first I was laughing, but the more I think of it...what if the announcement is the return of Geauga Dog? Oh brother. And if it's more water slides, that will be disappointing too. They have more slides than anyone on the planet. Heck, CP could use some more water slides.

Don't rule out something big. After all, they raised the (early-purchase) season passes from $49 to $69. Their customers will expect a very special coaster to justify a 41% increase (and I'm not even considering the old "4-pack". It's a 72% increase from that level.) Besides, they need something "major" to turn the park around from the dismal 2004 performance anyway.

On the other hand, if it's nothing more than Geauga Dog or something equally mundane, expect continued poor attendance and negative operating results for 2005.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

So only a coaster can be considered big news?

To justify a 41%-72% increase, yes. (OK, I would probably make a few exceptions for other "super rides" which aren't coasters... my point was that GL would have to do something "major"... not announce Geauga Dog or another slide.)

My point is that 'major' doesn't have to mean a coaster or a big ride. For example, Castaway Bay is 'major'. (Don't read into that. I'm not implying anything.)

There is a pretty good thread over at CoasterBuzz about this. You just might find some answers there.

The announcement could, in part, have nothing to do with rides or attractions at all. Ever think of that?

Could we see the announcement of Castaway Bay II before people even have a chance to get their feet wet in the first one?
