The 1500s

I was curious what date/time I'd have to be there to (most likely) wait in line to get into the Commons Dorms. I hear they're the best, so I'll be willing to take an early trip down for early processing if necessary. Thank you!

Well, you cannot check into housing until the day you arrive to process-in. You really shouldn't have to wait in line...checking into housing is a relatively quick procedure. There are three Commons buildings, actually - 1500 which is co-ed, 1400 which is male-only, and 1300 which is female-only. As long as you are not arriving too late into the season, getting into one of the dorms there should not be an issue. The last two times I processed-in, (in early May) 1500 was the only building I was able to get into, anyway.

Cassie, Just so you are aware, last year the day the 1500 building opened up there was a four hour line to get in. I couldn't get into the building because all the male rooms were full or reserved. And that was the same day they opened. It really depends on your sex also.

Last year must've been different then. Because in '02 and '03 when i moved into the 1500 building me and my roomie were like the only males in the building for like 2 or 3 days, and even then there were still some rooms and beds open till mid-June.

Wow, I could never imagine there being a line to get into housing...I guess that was just my own personal experience. Yeah, I think there is a lot less room for males in 1500...I may be wrong, but from what I remember, the first floor was male only and the second and third floors were female only. It kind of sucked being on the third floor and being as far away as possible from the front door. I guess checking into housing will be different for everyone!

Yea, but i would guess they do that for a reason though. It would make it easy for some random guy toclimb into a females room if she was on the first floor through her window. That, or they just know us males are lazy. :)

When I processed in I asked for a room in the commons dorms. They told me there was nothing available because they were full. Keep in mind the other two buildings were not open yet(only 1500 was open). They put me in an apartment and I choose to stay there the rest of the year. In the apartment it was like moving day. The apartment , which was full, lost and gained 9 different roommates that day. A couple weeks later when they opened up the other buildings, there was a line again. But I had built a relationship with my roommates and decided it was the place for me. I loved the stove. They posted building opening days on the commons store windows and check-in started at 8am on opening days. People lined up to make sure they got in.

I feel this year might be different because of Castaway Bays employees. So they might open up the dorms earlier now.
