The 13th, now with more child.

It was one of those days where Magnums wait should have been 15 minutes. Everything was under an hour except Maverick and TTD. Perfect day to be at Cedar Point. The weather was fantastic and everything worked.

We took off around 8:30 from my neck of the woods and arrived about 10:45 or so. I brought a friend from work and his 11 year old son. Things started out good and we hit Maverick first and the line was just shy of 5 minutes over an hour. The kid enjoyed it and I thought he would be ready for anything.

After Maverick it started. The kid would talk about how he did not get much sleep last night and he was pretending to not feel well. He really was afraid and I guess Maverick shook him up a bit for his first coaster. Can you really blame him? I knew I could not. I once told my mom I would not ride Magnum and cry in line. Basically I would make a scene to not ride. Funny how things change. Later he was bragging Maverick is his favorite.

He wanted to ride smaller rides. So we took him to Iron Dragon and he liked it. We did the Cork Screw and he hated it. So I figured out he did not like inversions and tried to coax him onto much more tranquil rides/Attractions (Mine Ride, Paddle Wheel Excursions) and he was so not about it. We were not going to force him on anything but did try a few more like Wildcat and Up-Power Tower but then he wanted to slow down and take a rest. So I went to the car to make a phone call and he and his dad went to Thunder Canyon. I told them I would meet them outside the Magnum exit.

I finished my phone call and saw the wait for Maggie to be 30 minutes. But I was running out of time so I skipped it and watched TTD run for about 15 minutes. They came back and we went to eat at Midway Market (which has decent food) and we went to DT. The kid skipped line halfway through the 45 minute wait.

So I headed to WT and MF with my friend while his kid waited in line with us and then walked off at the platform to wait by the exit while we took a ride. Millennium was rocking high speeds today and I mean it was rocking them hard. We rode in the back seat and it felt like it was pulling incredibly hard.

I'm really glad the kid came. He is good kid and he tried hard. I'm really proud of him. It is amazing to me that he chose Maverick as his first and his favorite. He thinks he might be ready for Magnum when he goes back.

It was a damn good day to get some serious rides counts in and we came up way short with a total of 7 rides.

I learned today that Midway Market has very good food. It is a nice buffet and the price is not bad either. I'll be going there more often. Great place to load up on carbs. *** Edited 6/14/2007 3:11:14 AM UTC by Coastern3rd***

Yea, MM is not bad for filling up on at the lunch prices, as you get your drink & dessert included. Everyone in our clan can at least find something they like at the buffet.

My 11 year old is even more conservative on rides. He still only wants the mid range rides. My older son was always "bring it on". Just shows how different we all are. Your little guy was prob. trying to put on a brave face being with the guys. He'll porb. never forget his trip with you :)

Peace Love Hope

Nice TR!

I love Midway Market. They have a really good selection.

I was 11 the first year I rode the Magnum (after much coaxing from my parents). I was terrified, but afterwards it was my favorite ride.

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Millennium Force was haulin' ass yesterday.

Warmer days like this are some of Millie's finest. It was on days like this where we would come close to overspeeds. The ride can be up to 10-15 seconds shorter when it is warm like this than it is on cool days early in the season.

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

I'll go on the hottest day of the year just for overspeed. Actually, will they close it for overspeed? What is considered overspeed? Enquiring minds want to know!

When I went mid July of last year, MF did seem a bit more intense.... DEF FASTER!

eat @ bob evans, dennys sucks!
