That Big Long Road to Cedar Point..

Just wanted to say...That road is the longest road I have ever been on but the best road I have been on! And I hate waiting for that red light.

Just wondering if you were to drive on it during offseason, could you drive around in the parking lot or anything?

Might be a dumb question

Which road would you be referring to?

I would assume you could pull into the parking lot.  However, I'm pretty sure you'd be asked to move you're vehicle after awhile by Security.  It might also depend on the Security Officer.  I beleive this also includes the road on the side of the parking lot.  There is a sign at the beginning of the road that states it's private property.
I thought MiLlEnNiUmGuRl was referring to I-90.  I've driven to CP from both Schenectady, New York and Rochester, New York, and it has to be the most boring highway in the world.  The first interesting sight on the whole trip is seeing MF and Power tower on the causeway! :)

Rob, my parents actually live in Scotia, New York.  I grew up there and I attend school in Rochester.  Where were you from?

My wife grew up in Schenectady. Her family still lives there (her mom lives in Scotia, others live in Colonie and Rotterdam). We were just up there for Thanksgiving.

If you think 90 is boring, you should try driving on the highway that runs between Tulsa and Endi in Oklahoma (as I did this Thanksgiving).  It's straight and flat with very little trees or buildings.  At least 90 goes through exciting downtown Cleveland!

Yea Cleveland is the first bit of excitement on my trip I think.  Also, on a clear day, you can look to the right and see Lake Erie south of Buffalo as you are about to exit NY.  I can't believe there are two GTTP connections to my hometown!  Not that Schenectady is anything special... ;)

The nice thing about the trip to CP is that is is mostly easy driving where as if I go down south to say BGW, you have to drive close to NYC, Baltimore, Washington, etc.  It certainly makes for a more interesting drive, but some of the driving down there is insane!  You can be doing 80 and there are two lanes to your left going faster.

Boring?  Try the Florida Turnpike between Palm Beach and Orlando.  2.5 hours of sawgrass.
Matt, must agree with you, it is a boring ride.  I live in Rochester, around the corner from RIT. ( I guess there are coaster-aholics right under your nose.)  I must say that the final hour is indeed the longest.  I make 5 or more trips a year to the park and feel like I know every bump in the road.
Try going from michigan. One Word of advice; USE A MOTOR HOME. Especially with your friends. It is the funnest. Ah...the bliss of cp along with friends...a not so boring ride up finally...and 3 liters o pop in a day.:)

you want boring?  Try driving across Utah in the middle of the night on I-70.  You know you are in trouble when you see the sign that says "no services for 150 miles".  If I had not had those liters of Mtn Dew Code Red, something very bad could have happened.

S.R-2 works for me but i have driven the BeeLine in Florida before ,you get going faster and then you have to stop for the next toll gate

CEDARPOINT ROCKS!!!!

hehe intresting.. oh and I meant the causeway ..

There's this one road I took to Cedar point on a bus trip (I don't know what it was, hey I'm only 15) You also pass the powerplant on the way...

Anyways I fell alseep and wake up to some people talking and I look over and I see CEDAR POINT! I could tell because I saw Millennium Force...very small though. It was awesome because I never took that way before and I just wake up looking at it in a distance. It was about 15 minutes to get there from that point...we were on the other side!

Anyone else took that way?

It was probably on Route 2 sometime right before the Rye Beach Road exit.  I never saw it before, but when I went in October, after most of the leaves were off the trees, I saw Power Tower and MF off in the distance.  If I remember, as you are driving westbound, you see a McDonalds sign straight ahead or maybe slightly off to the left.  Almost right behind that is where you can see MF and PT.  Ask my girlfriend - I almost peed myself when I saw it.  And that was after spending my entire summer at the park! :)

Driving from Michigan isn't so bad for me, straight shot down I-275 to 75, to 280 then Route 2. Route 2 is the road the nuclear power plant is on, and in my opinion is better than taking the turnpike. At least the scenery is more interesting, and going through the west end of Sandusky is generally not as congested as coming in from 250 in the mornings. As for the long road on the east side of the causeway, I've always thought it would be great to have a summer home there, right on the water, with CP right there.

Ha Ha Ha Matt   I know what you're talking about on Route two before Rye Beach.  Since I'm at college, my permanent address is near Elyria, which is on your way and about 40 mins before Rye Beach. I remember as I was growing up seeing that.  On  a good clear day you can see Space Spiral, Magnum, Power Tower, and Millennium.  One day several years back it was so clear it looked like the CP was only a mile away, they stuck out so much in the light.  You can see them for the most part for a few miles past Route 250. After Rye Beach the orientation switches them to the right windows of the car.

MiLlEnNiUmGuRl, I might also know what your talking about.  There's a bridge on Route two, between I think the port Clinton Exit and another place that cross the bay.  It's about 5 miles away and you can see it from CP, and you can see CP from it.  It's kind of a tease because it's 5 miles away yet I think it's about 20 miles till Sandusky or something like that.
