I bet the next ride they test will be on the peninsula.

I can't wait for testing of Lake Erie Eagles to begin! When do you think that will be? ;-)

What about Super Himalaya? When will it be tested?

Multiple insiders that I know said both Eagles, and Himalaya aren't to be tested until after the deep friers at the Happy Friar pass their testing. It could be many days, or even a week or 2 before that happens...

I'm probably the only person who has ever said this next comment: Maverick's old restraints were actually my favorite over-the-shoulder restraints.

Not only are you probably the first, you are probably the last to make that comment.

Grrr! I'm getting impatient! ;-)

Oh well... At least I have dreams of the Tiki Twirl to keep me satisfied!

On a serious note, I too preferred Maverick's restraints over the ones on Raptor and Mantis. I'll give the vests a chance though. I suspect it will be a definite improvement.

I think that original style of Intamin restraint is most successful on the two rides at Hersheypark, Storm Runner and Fahrenheit. On rides with aggressive lateral transitions like Maverick and I305, not so much. While the shoulder and chest portion is away from the body, it's still there to box your head and neck around.

I tried the vest style shortly after they were installed on I305 and I liked them a lot, and hopefully there will be a great improvement to the Maverick experience.
It's nice that they're making the change for the better. I believe they didn't have to.

I never had any issue with Maverick's harness. I think Maverick will be the first thing I head to on opening day during ERT to try them out.

I'm really excited about the new restraints. Maverick is one of my favorite rides, but I had to work at stabilizing my upper body while riding or the restraint constantly would bang my head. I think this will really make a great ride much more enjoyable.

I agree. I never had significant issues, but I did have to learn how to ride defensively, which is kind of absurd.

So, are they going to be more like a Gatekeeper-style restraint?

No, not really.
Google "I305 restraints". There's plenty of images of what they look like there.

I had the pleasure of riding I-305 this past Friday and get a feel for the new restraints. And after riding that beast at Kings Dominion, I can't wait to try those restraints on Maverick.

But the Beast is at Kings Island.

See what I did there? ;)

I305 restraints on Maverick are about 5 years overdue. It's going to make the ride even more amazing. I can finally ride the ride and let my body loose instead of bracing for the next whack in the head.

I do think this is an improvement, but I don't know if it was necessary. I didn't have a problem with the restraints (but I did have a problem with the ride as I greyed out during the first quarter), but I'm pretty used to uncomfortable ride restraints (SLC, Zamperla Volare, and TOGO stand-up, among others at my home park), so I'm always prepared for the worst, I suppose. Still, Maverick has the weirdest restraints I have ever experienced. I felt like I was in a roll-cage (and I'm sure I'm not the first to say that)!

He did not. The ride is not moving.

It's in the same place it's always been.

I wrote a haiku about that video...

"It's not moving yet."

Wait! I see a train rolling...

I am so confused...
