I bet the next ride they test will be on the peninsula.

Multiple insiders that I know said both Eagles, and Himalaya aren't to be tested until after the deep friers at the Happy Friar pass their testing. It could be many days, or even a week or 2 before that happens...
Grrr! I'm getting impatient! ;-)
Oh well... At least I have dreams of the Tiki Twirl to keep me satisfied!
On a serious note, I too preferred Maverick's restraints over the ones on Raptor and Mantis. I'll give the vests a chance though. I suspect it will be a definite improvement.
I think that original style of Intamin restraint is most successful on the two rides at Hersheypark, Storm Runner and Fahrenheit. On rides with aggressive lateral transitions like Maverick and I305, not so much. While the shoulder and chest portion is away from the body, it's still there to box your head and neck around.
I tried the vest style shortly after they were installed on I305 and I liked them a lot, and hopefully there will be a great improvement to the Maverick experience.
It's nice that they're making the change for the better. I believe they didn't have to.
I'm really excited about the new restraints. Maverick is one of my favorite rides, but I had to work at stabilizing my upper body while riding or the restraint constantly would bang my head. I think this will really make a great ride much more enjoyable.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I agree. I never had significant issues, but I did have to learn how to ride defensively, which is kind of absurd.

I do think this is an improvement, but I don't know if it was necessary. I didn't have a problem with the restraints (but I did have a problem with the ride as I greyed out during the first quarter), but I'm pretty used to uncomfortable ride restraints (SLC, Zamperla Volare, and TOGO stand-up, among others at my home park), so I'm always prepared for the worst, I suppose. Still, Maverick has the weirdest restraints I have ever experienced. I felt like I was in a roll-cage (and I'm sure I'm not the first to say that)!
